He's talking about the rubber boots, not the leather one AFAIK. It's held in by a metal square and 4 bolts.

I think a boost leak that big would be more noticeable, ie. black smoke, extremely poor aceleration. I would look more at clogged cats or something along those lines. Something that would restrict boost but not necessarily leak it.

A dyno is the only way to simulate it without actualy going anywhere.

What would the symptoms of an oil being too thin? Would you start to hear abnormal gear noise from the transmission or something?
