90-05' VW's are actually the car that I see do this the most, especially the 2.0 . Only other engine I can think of is the 4.7L that comes in dodge and jeep vehicles with the huge oil cap. Its always covered in it.

What the best product to use? Simple green or something like smart and final degreaser? Im going to be doing this next week but with a steam pressure washer
Why do you have a turbo rear end? You need to get the engine into it power band just shift to a lower gear. When I cruz big sur I never drop below 3500 rpm.
Almost done. I have to call ARP on monday to get their lube to torque the head. Mains are at .002in, rods at .0018in and thrust at .002in. top ring at .017, 2nd .021 and oil at .016-.017. Only used WD40 to lube pistons.
Can you feel the linkage moving? A transmission should not be able to redline in first. Average stall speed is 2500 rpm max. There was something wrong with it before hand.
Power isn't everything. I have gone to drift/autocross events with my 7MGE and used tien ss coilovers. When I was a noob any more would have made difficult. Now that I have "grown out" of the GE im building a turbo motor.
Check out my build. Its worth it if you have a GE in good condition or can get one cheap. They are usually less abused too. I went all out but all you need is GTE electronics, Driftmotion oil line kit and drill 1 knock sensor or wire it for one. Devin is at 14psi on a stock hg with arp studs.
