The GTE vs GE cam debate has never been accurately tested. Its all been butt dyno hearsay. Proper way to do it is to degree each cam on a dyno.

That engine was not taken care of, look at all that sludge. I bet everything will be out of spec due to the lack of lubrication. You could knock down the rough edges and Mic/plastigauge it to see if its in spec.

Cold + short trips will get you that sludge. What kind of oil are you using?

Crash rating are for passenger survivability not the car . New cars crush like tin cans so the passenger absorbs little energy.

KBB is not always accurate. Print out ads from craiglist and newspapers of car in the same condition. You can use that to prove the real value.
