I was showing my car to a couple people at a meet/show back home, and a kid in a Honda yells "Don't be scared, its just a 7M" as he drives by. I yelled as they were driving away, "Then why are you running?" ;)

Got it running yesterday, the cam sensor is the issue. After screwing with the wires for a half hour, it finally started. Is there a good way to fix this permanently without replacing the sensor with a new one? It cost like $500... :/

Mine died, but now it does what yours does, crank, no-start.
I suspect the ground on the head might be bad, its pretty corroded, so I'll be doing that when I have time tomorrow

I specifically checked the EFI fuse for that reason, but I'll make sure. I've seen too many problems fixed with components that had been checked and were "good", lol.
@roadboy: If the tach is working when I crank it, doesn't that indicate that the CPS is working and the ECU is receiving the...
So I had just checked my O2 sensor and the car was sitting in my driveway idling, and then it just shut off. I go to restart it, cranks, but won't start. It tries, but it just won't catch. I have checked:
-Checked codes, there were none.
-Checked fuses.
-Had the battery tested. Didn't think that...
Properly rebuilt, the internals should easily handle your goals. Having said that, the 7M is a very unforgiving motor in terms of tolerances when rebuilding, especially regarding the headgasket.
Have the rear timing cover machined bolted to the block. Have the timing belt tensioner bolt...
I personally found the tank to be fairly easy to remove. Having said that, I had an empty tank, no rust at all, and a motorcycle jack to make it go very smoothly. Still, if you have access to a motorcycle jack, it is probably the best tool for raising and lowering the tank unless you are using a...
EGR for sure, USDM ECUs are tuned to run EGR, running no EGR with the USDM ECU can cause knock and damage to the motor. If you want to stay without EGR, you will need to either get a JDM ECU, or a means of tuning it to run without EGR. Not sure if any piggybacks can do that, but a standalone...
UPDATE:
I currently have the set screw on the AFM all the way open, and I'm running 30 PSI. It idles at about 14.5, but under heavy loads its running about 10.5:1 or less, and at WOT, it goes from about 9:1 until it bottoms out the gauge at 8.5:1. Is there anything else I can do to adjust my AFR...
Awesome post, I thought i saw that a long time ago but I couldn't find it because I only searched the General MkIII and 7MGTE sections. Helpful stuff man, thanks.

As far as working on cars and doing repairs, I'm competent, but when it comes to actual tuning and modifying stuff of that nature, I'm still a bit of a noob. Basically, I am curious as to what a safe Air Fuel Ratio is for my MkIII. I'm running the following setup:
-1987 Supra Turbo Manual...
My car had silicone lines on it when I bought it. Without running it, I could tell that they were deformed from collapsing under vacuum, and the ends were stretched on some so they wouldn't stay on, which I'm guessing allowed them to be blown off under boost. I changed out all the lines for...
I checked that, its not in my bookmarks, but I was able to get to it by playing around with the address bar. One more question: there is a sensor on top just behind the thermostat, it has 2 wires, what is it? Thanks again,
-AM3
Does anybody have a picture with the sensors labeled. The TSRM appears to be down, and I'm trying to figure out what all of the sensors are. I see 2 2-wire sensors, and 2 single wire sensors. I'm curious as to what each of these exactly does, so if anyone has a picture of the tower with all 4...
