I have a kinda biased opinion, but I like MSD wires(I put them on every vehicle I own). They're also cut to fit, and will last damn near forever. They come with long precut wires, that you cut to fit how you like, all the boots and clips, and even includes the crimping tool. I'm not on my...
So you get to 95km/h, and it won't go any faster, or you get to 95 km/h, and the motor is screaming at the top of its rev limit? I know you don't have a tach yet, but can you guess around what rpm its at? Is the throttle opening completely?
Is it gettting oil up into the head? Are you using the correct oil filter? Do you have enough oil in it? If it was the AFM, it would idle ok, but either wouldn't run, or run badly. Sounds like your having a clearance issue. If you take the splark plugs out, and turn the motor by hand, is it...
Not trying to be a hard ass, just a little education. Its a relay, not a fuse. They have different functions. This should help clear it up for you a bit better.

Why? Its close to 20 yrs. old, and finally blew the head gasket? Besides, this isn't the cars fault. You said the rad. was completely empty when you finally got around to checking it. Did you bother to find out why? There must be a reason. I've done hundreds of head gasket jobs, on many...
The exhaust putting off a little white/gray smoke on a cold/rainy day is normal. Its condensation from the engine and exhaust. The fluttering gauge could be t.stat related, or it could be a loose connection on the temp. sensor. Seeing that someone put a toggle switch in for the starter, and...
This is how my car sits on stock springs and Bilstien struts on the lowest notch.
Its a little lower than stock, but I can still pull up to a parking stone and not worry about tearing the front end off. Its almost perfect.
I was thinking about getting some lowering springs, but decided...
Earlier you said white/gray. Which is it? Not that it matters, you need to rebuild it either way.
If its blue, and smokes as you describe, then its piston rings, and you get to go even deeper into the motor. In that case, good luck with your rebuild.
There is no possible way for the valve...

I wish this tech. article was here as well, it has a lot of really good info. as far as cam tuning, and what you should or shouldn't do.
The TSRM shows that the lobe height difference between a turbo and n/a intake...
I've seen cars with a lot of miles have the trans. fluid flushed new filter and all new fluid added, and not move again. At the most, change the filter, and then refill(put in at least 2 qts., start the car, then add fluid until it reads full on the stick). You should be checking the trans...
When you put the valve covers on, you need to use new gaskets, and put a dab of rtv in the front sharp corners where the covers go over the first caps. Get rid of the stock screws, and use bolts with a drop of locktite on the first couple threads. This will keep the bolts tight, and you'll be...
Running straight water is a problem. It won't cool as well as coolant/antifreeze, and will cause major rust and corrosion issues inside your block and radiator, restricting flow, and making it harder for the coolant to leech heat from the engine correctly. If you're running straight water...
The round thing in the fuse box is actually a relay. It's labeled "MAIN" in the 86.5, but "EFI" in the tsrm. That relay controls both the fuel injection and the ecu, correct? It could be shorted out, as you said its always hot. It's labeled "B" in the link...
Sorry, meant to get in here yesterday. If you push the clutch pedal down, does the noise go away? If so, the throwout bearing is the likely culprit. The light popping could be from dirt(like dust from the clutch) built up between the fork and the ball it pivots on, or on the fingers of the...
You can get a magnet that has a soft shaft, and will bend into whatever shape you want(I got mine from Matco, but I'm sure someone like Harbor Freight would have one as well). I'd try to get it through the drain as well.
Sure its the trans. whining, and not the pinion bearing? If it is the trans., just wait for a good used one and swap it out. You have to have a press and a bearing splitter to take it apart.
You also need to prime the oil pump before you turn the engine over. I like to fill it with oil(dump a qt. of oil in a CLEAN coffee can, stick the pick up screen in there, spin the pump gear until oil comes out the other end), install it, the pan, and the rest of the oiling system components...
I had an 83 (5gme, 5 spd., 3.73 gears) before my 86.5 (7mge, 5 spd., 4.30 lsd). My mkiii is noticeably faster both on the strip and the highway. Both were in excellent running condition, but the 83 died of cancer(spent most of its life in NJ).
