Either cam, crank, or oil pump seals. You have to remove the timing belt to do any one of them, so you might as well do all of them, and a timing belt while your there.

Which plate are you talking about? I thought the turbo drain went to the oil pan, but I'm not sure. There's a couple block off plates on the exhaust side, and I think one of them is for the oil cooler.

Is the oil coming out of the little groove in the bottom of the cover? Clean that area with some degreaser or brake clean, run the vehicle, and make sure the oil is coming from there, and not the oil pan gasket.

Are they gonna hone the cylinders for you? Is that ridge at the top of the cylinders very big? You can get a cutter just for that. Just make sure its done before they hone it.

Is it more of a rattle? Could be your catalytic converter is coming apart, and the guts are rattling around in your exhaust. Wouldn't be the first time I've seen that.

As a mechanic, I can tell you they'll go by the book. If the manual says 58 ft. lbs., that's what it gets. Now, once you get it back, you can retorque it to what ever you want, just don't expect them to honor the warranty if anything goes wrong, and they figure out you've been in there.
