IIRC the studs are really really strong. I would think they wouldn't stretch or deform unless you were running gobs of boost and then blew the headgasket and horribly warped the head. Anybody else?
I found an 89 non turbo 5spd that was an auto-x car. The body's in good shape but the interior is fully gutted with a full cage (that you have to climb over to get in) harnesses, race suspension (with sway bars and tower braces), no bumper supports, no creature comforts. Just radiator, engine...
yep, the connection between the driveshaft and the diff and then check the carrier bearing bolts into the body. mine backed out on me and it would chatter at low speed and in reverse. turns out they had backed themself out almost half an inch.
if you set it to run 15lbs of boost are you actually getting 15lbs of boost? Mine's doing the same exact thing and I'm gonna pull of the intercooler piping and see if I have a problem there. How do you know if timing is being pulled? At low rpm I have decent power, but once I get into boost it...
the mhg should be reusable, but you might have the clean the surfaces and use some gasket spray. I'm pretty sure the arp's are re-usable as long as they don't stretch or chew up the threads or anything. I helicoiled the head on my car since the studs were stripping. It was a PITA but everybody...
I got the turbo off my car and the turbine fan is completely white, while the rest of the inside of the exaust housing is black, and the turbine fan on my other turbo is solid black...think it could be the same problem as the manifold? I use sunoco 94 octane.
If you loop the lines how hard does it make it to steer the car? I drive with 1 hand all the time and don't like taking a hand off the shifter to turn.
how hard is it to replace the shims yourself? I need to get mine done, and I don't have a lot of money. Plus the cams are tickin like mad when they come in contact with the shims. The head was completely rebuilt back to stock specs with ALL new parts...minus the fact that the retard who did it...
the crown vics for civilians do suck, but if you buy a police package with the interceptor from an auction you're definately in business. Interceptors aren't all that slow
I just bought the ebay koyo radiator. It was $142 shipped which isn't bad considering toyota wanted like $390 for a stocker haha. The koyo looks EXACTLY like the stock one. I haven't put it in yet (still waiting on my new turbo) but it seems to be pretty nice for the price.
the stock bolts are really weak and you can't torque them down as hard as the ARP's. The head STUDS have a stud, and then a nut that holds the head on, twice as many threads as the bolts. That's all I know.
what a f***ing joke! most people who drive modified cars don't have ANY illegal mods. And what the hell is up with the whole 'officers judgement' thing about how loud the exaust is? That gives the cops TOO much power to do whatever the hell they want. If he doesn't like the way you look, or what...
what!!! you aren't done yet!!! what have you been doing all this time??? j/k. Do it right the first time and you won't regret it hahah. Good luck!
p.s. are your gloves pink? j/k!
I think you just leave the EGR cooler on there and remove the piece that goes from the head to the intake manifold. Not sure though
Anybody out there know how it's done???
I had the same problem when I timed my engine, I had no clue what it was, but I adjusted the clamp on the #1 wire and it seemed to go away. Actually...I think it was blinking but just not in time with the mark. It was timed at 10 degrees, but every few blinks (every 5 or so) it would show like...
mine doesn't leak, but if it rains or I wash the car, and then I open the hatch I get water dripping from behind the hatch panel....???????? what the hell? No water down in the spare tire, it ONLY comes out when I open the hatch. Weird
you could go to a car wash place (the self washing ones) and the ones around here have an engine bay and rim cleaner type thing that just comes out of the pressure washing hose, but without as much pressure. Some people say the 7m engine doesn't do well with water, and people have sprayed their...
