OK, this brings up my new angle to check out. I did try that with the vacuum hose. The valve is actuating. I can verify that ... with the hood up. The vacuum hose may be getting pinched with the hood down.....maybe?

this may be a stupid question, but then again, only stupid questions are the ones you don't ask are you required to continually make adjustments through out the year, as the temperature changes, if you have, say an hks s-afr or the like?

That is what I gather from his description. I only saw the hole between 1&2, from the outside. A smoke test revealed that and no other leaks at all. I don't know about it being Toyota gaskets. Not sure what kit he got to do the rebuild.
