    valve covers question

Your better off taking the baffle out to do it. Maybe not all, but everyone that I have ever removed had a filtering eliment of sort between the V/C and the baffle. I would be to afraid to get metal shaving from drilling and tapping in there and adventually have them fall into the motor. If you...

    PS rack tech questions -

Up through 08/88, there was only one rack availible. After 08/88, there were there units availible. One was with PPS (Progressive Power Steeting) and the other two, I am not sure what the differance was. One was specifically for N/A cars and the other was used on both N/A's and Turbo's but non...

    Disgusting inside coolant resovoir

Is it like a slimy gel? If so, its the coolant that is doing that. Its a problem with a lot of modern long/extended life coolants). When its hot and exposed to oxygen, its forms a rusty/brownish colored gel like substance. I've had the same problem in the past and since then have strictly...

    Structural Integrity

if you are that worried about it, get the entire c-channel and put it in like I showed (tunnel section). The only reason why toyota installed exactly where they did is cause it also acts as the front mounting point for the seat, this does not mean that it has to be there for structural integrity..

visual aid (sorry, my paint skills arent the greatest)! this should help incase my last post didn't quite make sense.

    Structural Integrity

Ok, add the c-channel back attached behind the section that is left that extends to the seat mounts. Basically move it back to where the front edge is located where the back edge is and extend it down the sides of the tunnel. Best bet would probably be to find another car in a salvage yard...

    Structural Integrity

Another option is to get some like 1" X 2" or what ever would fit in where you cut rectangular 4130 chromoly tubing. Some .058 wall 4130 would be more then stronge enough to rebrace the section back.

    Structural Integrity

unless the pic is deceiving, it looks like you cut out a lot more then needed. I'd just trim out and plate off just whats needed to clear the shifter housing from the section that you removed and reweld it back in.

    1UZ into my MKIII

As for the rex with a 350, i had one with a T56.... The problem with the supra tunnel is the width, not the height, but now that I think about it, the rex does have a very wide tunnel (purposly designed that way from Mazda) to give it very high torsional regidity.... As for the flywheel, one...

    1UZ into my MKIII

Yeah I know, thats what I am saying. Tremic under rates the hell out of there tranny's and I know that the TKO,s are probably stronger then the T56's, but the t56 is still by far stronger then what its rated at. I prefer the double overdrive of the T56. I dont much care for the large 4th to...

    1UZ into my MKIII

About the trans, Tremic under rated the hell out of the T56 for some reason. I spoke with Tremic and they told me that they were under rated and the guy also told me that pretty much ever endurance racer (Le Mans cars) is using then (i.e. Viper's, Vette's, Aston Martin DB9's) are pretty much...

    1UZ into my MKIII

Ah gotchya, I thought that you might have been refering to the guide stud for the release bearing. I was gonna say, that should never go bad being that it is stainless. Yeah there are still gray as can be for the most part, just dirty.

    1UZ into my MKIII

For right now, I am using a W58. The bellhousing is the stock V8 auto housing with an adapter between the bellhousing and the trans. When the time comes for the turbos to be installed, I am either going TKO (i.e. Ian) or might take on the trans tunnel mods and go T56 6 speed. Will not go...

    1UZ into my MKIII

Actually its really dirty, especially on the heads. The cam/valve covers were leaking in a few spots at one point and I guess that they never bothered to clean the heads off before they fixed it. (nice thick, oily and gritty paste)
