    Tire Question

When I got my supra 3 yrs ago, it came with Falken tires, stock rims and size. The receipt was in the glove box. They lasted about 25k miles. I could not find any around here, so I went with Kumho Ecsta 711's. They only last for 10k miles on rear (2 sets now),& 20k on front. Nice even wear, 4...

What is the first sign of a BHG?

My BHG leak was so tiny that it used only a small amount of coolant every week or two. But I really knew it was there when I went on an extended drive, say an hour or two. It would build up so much pressure in the cooling system that it would overfill the plastic bottle by 2x. I tried all...

    Fan trouble

If its locking up, as by your comments it is, then it is probably bad. I say that because they should only lock up when the temp gets very hot from the radiator. You said your gage only gets to 1/2. On the front of the fan clutch is a little 'bi-metal' spring. When it gets hot enough it...

    Muffler Recommendations

Last March I did the exhaust... And wrote this last July on SF... I read on this forum recently that a 3" (75mm) exhaust is the way to go. That is only true for the turbo version.... Wide open breathing.... Quick spoolup of the turbo. ...Higher RPMs. But...for a naturally aspirated motor...

    Busted door lock?

Some jerk may have stuck something into the lock when you weren't around. Also...the tumblers inside wear out eventually, and then the key won't go in, or not turn, or I've even seen one that the key would not come out. Sounds like its time to remove the lock and replace with new. I would...

Powersteering: Cressida 7m vs Supra 7mge and gte

Lots of lookers !! I believe you'll be the one to try this conversion. Let us know what happens, as I think others will do it too (when needed) if it works out ok. :icon_bigg

    coolant issue

Pat the car on the roof (or targa top, as the case may be) !!!! But seriously now.....I believe there is a thread all about it in the faq section, or on SM forum 'how to'...and definatley on the SOGI technical page.

    clutch issue...

Your slave cylinder may have temporarily held the clutch in a bit when your propblem happened. Does the pedal action feel normal??? Any weirdness?? Smooth movement??? It should be very smooth all the wat thru.

    leaking power steering.

I like 'toyohabu's idea of getting the hydraulic hose replaced by a hose repair shop. I used to have this service performed alot on furniture manufacturing machines, as the hoses were obsolete on many of them. It's the hose that leaks. If mine were a turbo, I would go ahead and improve on...

fuel pressure remain after engine off?

Crack the bolt at the cold start injector. Its right up top, and the pressure will drop off in .02 tenths of a second. :biglaugh: and you won't even get squirted in the eye. :biglaugh:

    Save Me!!!

^ yep...better look over the dampner and crank real close. I'd get a new key too. Toyota dampeners are not very tight on the crank. I've always used 2 large prybars to pop them off when needed. Never needed a puller tool.

What do you have - Hot Climate GTE fan or regular fan?

I can't remember how many my 89 n/a came with, cause I run electric now ! Clean bay, no loud noise when a clutch locks up, cheaper, no heating issues.

Can we talk about gas for a minute? High octane discussion.

The pump is in the gas, and the gas keeps it cool, so running out will eventually burn it up if you do it often. The pump comes on initially during the cranking mode, then once the engine starts, it keeps running. So...if you run out, its not as bad as some other cars that the pump keeps...

    Cold Start Problem

They should idle at 700rpm + or - 50. 800 is better. When I was making sure my cooling system was gonna be great, I noticed that the coolant was not flowing into radiator much at 600-700rpm. As I slowly raised the idle to 800, it was flowing very good. That told me the water pump does not...

    Brake master cyl leak?

Yep...it blew up thread. That's a lot of fluid, as the vacuum hose is up high on the booster. he must have been adding a lot in a short period of time. I'd think the diaphram in the booster would have deteriorated and gotten a hole if the leak were a slow, long time one.

    Brake master cyl leak?

A person in another thread (on another forum??) said that he was losing fluid somewhere. He could not see where. A mechanic replaced the master cylinder. Then later, he was getting some white smoke out the tail pipe. Turned out to be brake fluid that had accumulated in the booster, then got...
