I have an '89 N/A, and am considering the OBX headers, as they appear to be better built, and stainless. The 02 mount "is" too far back. Also, it appears that the downpipe is too long to just mount it all up to the cat.
I will cut the downpipe right after the "Y" (goes to headers), and cut...
The sensor you are talking about with the loose connector is the ECU temp sensor. It must be connected and working properly for your car to run right. I was gonna sugest that you check the sensor, but loose connection is even easier to fix. You lucky fellow !! :biglaugh:
Get the car up on a rack (jack it up at home will also work) and spin the tires by hand. Look for any out-of-round, up-down in the tire. look for any sideways movement in the tread. Re-read my prior post about even a small amount out. :icon_bigg
Most Supras don't have the original mud/splash shield on anymore, anyway. The important part is from the front of bumper to the frame under the radiator. This forces air into the radiator, to keep you running cooler. With out that part, the air wants to just by-pass under the car.
I made...
Well...I always put in the factory recommended amount of oil. I always make sure the old oil filter gasket is off the block. It sound like you actually have an issue with the wire to the oil pressure sending unit. Maybe the wire has a break in it further up than at the connector.
I just got...
Sounds like 3 possibilties. 1) Spark. Next time its gonna sit hot for 30 min, check for spark at the plugs when you try to start it. no spark?? May be a component that gets an 'open circuit' when overheated, then works again after it cools down. Check or swap the EFI relay (just had an 89...
There is a filter screen in one of the lines at the bottom of the tank/reseviour. Maybe it got plugged. Remove the tank and clean it all up, then re-install.
PS. The vacuum valve works by sensing a pressure rise as you are turning the steering wheel at idle. It then creates an air bleed...
I've always made this a part of an oil change (with all 50 of the cars and trucks I've owned). I walk around the car and spray some silicone into all the locks, put the key in and turn it a few times (to work in the silicone). Ignition too. They always work fine.
I also spray the latches...
Cold start injector only works when coolant temp gets below, something like 52*. It only works during the cranking mode, not after the engine starts. If you crank it for more than 15 seconds, it shuts it off so you won't flood the engine with fuel.
The hard start, dying at idle, and...
Probably the box that tests the bulbs is bad. I believe it operates by measuring the resistance in the circuits and compares them to a pre-programmed amount.
In a circuit, when one of the bulbs burns out, there is less resistance in that circuit. That is why, if you don't replace the bad...
Well...certainly good tires help everything. You said those tires are new. I doubt the tires are the problem, after all you've done so far.
I've had a couple of cars that had similar shimmy. Check to make sure your rims aren't bent. Even a tiny bit (like 1/8") will multiply out at the...
You won't hear valve ticking/clatter for a long time after its been properly set. And if you change your oil regularly, you may never hear it. It develops as valve train parts wear out.
Here is what you want...

My '89 n/a with some light mods shifts hardest at the 1-2. There is nothing easy to do to soften it.
For normal driving I usually just wait until its in 2nd to hit the gas harder. :biglaugh:
The tranny fluid trick ONLY works on engines with hydraulic (oil pressure) lifters. What happens in those engines is that a lifter will collapse (sometimes only partially), thus opening up the gap at the PUSHROD. The ATF cleans away the varnish/sludge, thus allowing the lifter to start working...
Check fuel pressure. All of the tests per the TSRM. Its probably your cold start time switch in the cooling system, on the thermostat housing. Test it per TSRM.
I think now about Hankook Ventus V4 ES H105
225/55R-16 99V XL VB
Anyone try them before???
