Yes the block was machined with the cover.
My plan was to retorque the head after the 5000mile mark on the first try. I didn't make it that far before i noticedissues. By the time i got the metal gasket i was going to do it after 1500miles but didn't make that either. I running out of money...
Ok I'm lookin for advice on how, why, or what's going on with my car. I have a 88 Supra turbo and i have a descent build (if you need specs let me know). My issue is that my compression drops after about 2 months of driving the car. This is the fourth time its happened and I'm getting tired of...
Man Frank why did you give that up. Pretty nice looking car that Nick is sportin now.
Does anyone have a spare cylinder head they want to part with? I've been really having issues with head gaskets on my car for awhile now and I'm coming to the conclusion it may be my head. I think after 20yrs...
Sounds like you've made your choice not to rebuild. As others have said....it's great insurance. I know its your toy but its a double edge sword when modding a 7M and not doing what is needed to support the mod. If its your toy the 550/lex mod will lead you to a path to add other mids to...
Damn Mike long no see on the forum Mr. Big Game Hunter. Lol....i just caught up also. As a update on my hoopty is that it seems to be a bad/improper install of the head gasket. I pulled engine and noticed what looked like an oil leak between the head and block at or between cylinders one and...
The way that I found was by listening to the car when you crank it up. The clutch will engage for about 5-10 sec (you should hear the difference in sound when it disengages). The other way is by spinning the fan blade (while car is off). If the blade spins freely its bad. There should be a...
7M4EVR as this being your first Supra i hope you're not the impatient type like me. These cars can be money pits when pitting them back to good power conditions. I lot of people ditch the 7M motor after having too many issues and go for a 1JZ or 2Jz setup. The 7M is a good engine dont get me...
Is this your first Supra? I belive thats the way the harness runs...between the upper and lower intake. The answer to your second is to check out the link....

For the first question do you have an...
Ok ii finally got some time to work on the car. I pulled the head and really didn't like or understand what i saw. I have a 2mm metal head gasket with ARP studs. When i pulled the head off i was greeted with a thick oily film on the gasket.
Afrer pulling gasket off this is what it looked...
Did you check compression yet? I had kinda the same issue with my built 7M. Ran fine but just seemed....off. Did a compression test and was low on #1 cylinder. Leakdown test points to bad rings or something on lower end. Not trying to give you bad luck but like another poster said....you would...
Wellll.....I'm going to check the rest of the cylinders. If they're fine I'm going to pull the engine.....again. Strip it down to the short block. Take the short block to a machine shop....probably Millers....and get there opinion on what to do. Hopefully they give me the same advice you gave...
Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I tried really hard to not think of a head gasket issue or bottom end. Well....leakdown test has confirmed a bottom end issue. The leakdown was reading 50-60% leakage and i hear air from the crankcase ventilation hose. I then check the dipstick and hear air...
Hey guys,
Sad day on the southeast side of San Antonio. Finally did a leakdown test on the Supra. Tester reads 70% leakage. So i start to listen for the hissing and.....(as i put my head down and cry) its coming from the ventilation hose.....shizz....then i take the dipstick out...
Well.....Monday has come. So a friend of mine came over to verify the valve clearances and they seem ti be within specs. Some a little tighter than others. So we spent the rest of the day tearing the head down....which i didnt want to do. Right before we started to unloosen the head bolts we...
