    Damper

mrnickleye, That's what I did when the 800ft-lbs of torque from my impact gun didn't work. I took my breaker bar, stuck a pipe on the end, stood it on the ground and hit the starter. Scary...........

    Engine Management

A stand alone won't do you much good unless you're pushing the limits of the motor. You have to tune stand alones. Although you can tune the ignition too which will get a little more out the max boost the fuel you're using will allow. The AEM is a "plug and play" ECU replacement. Other big...

    Electrics a bit sketchy...

Doesn't sound like you have a problem. At idle, the motor isn't turning over fast enough to generate enough electrical power so the battery has to supply some. That's normal. I believe most car electrical systems run at around 13.7 volts and the battery is normally around 12.5 volts.

    Shops in LA

Actually, you could get Mk III parts from any of the vendors in the vendor section and get real good service. All of them are committed to the Mk III. I've done some business with MDC Motorsports, 935 Motorsports (they're in San Diego) and Carbon Fibre FX. I haven't had a bad experience yet.

    Shops in LA

SP Engineering is definately a big name shop. But I think they do mostly Mk. IVs. They've got a dyno. Didn't they build Kenny Henderson's Mk IV monster? Toysport in Gardena specializes in Toyotas. I did business with them for a while. They don't stock a lot of stuff, but they can get it if...

Few random Q's about my 89 Turbo

    5. I've got Greddy front strut bar and it fits over the larger '87 TEMS actuators (with a couple of washers under the mount pads). I don't have a rear bar, but the ones I've seen don't go over the top of the struts like the front ones. But you do have to ditch the plastic covers that cover...

    NA-t finished!!!

I went with the turbo TB and upper intake. The TB is different. I don't know if its better, so I just went with it. I agree that the NA intake would be better. But you probably can't tell.

    NA-t finished!!!

You down shift to let the engine brake, especially in corners, so when you exit the corner, the engine RPM is in the lower power band and not way down at idle. That way when you throttle up, you'll be in the engine power band. OK, so I guess most daily drivers don't to this unless you live in...

upgrading my pc. tips, pointers, guide me in the right direction!

What do you have now? What are you going to use it for? If its internet only, then you probably just need a new HD. You should probably archive everything else on CD (gold ones if you want the CD's to last for your life time). You do have a CD burner don't you? It must take you years just to...

    ignition cylinder

The key coming out of the ignition is a common occurance. My Supra does the same and a co-worker's does too. It kind of a funny feeling, but you get used to it. Sorry I can't help you on your lock change.

    NA-t finished!!!

Looks good and clean. Welcome to the NA>T ranks. Watch the down shifts on the turbo. It behaves a lot different than the NA. Why did you go with the NA upper intake mani? Looks like you got all new hoses. I didn't and had vaccum leaks. Do you have the NA TB to go along with the mani? You do...

There's a lot of shops in LA. I guess it depends on what you want done, how far you want to drive to get there and how much you want to pay.

    headlight problem

If the motor runs the lights up and both motors are working going up, then its probably not the motor. The motor probably isn't getting a signal from the Integration Relay No. 2. If its only one headlight, then its the motor or the wiring to that one motor. Both motors are on the same wire...

    Brake Light Problem, Help Please

Yup......the light failure module could also be your problem. But first, I'd check the fuse first and see that it has power. Then work your way aft in the car.

    Brake Light Problem, Help Please

I take it the tail lights work, but the brake lights don't. So I'd check the 20A brake fuse (STOP fuse) in the #1 Junction block. http://www.cygnusx1.net/supra/library/TSRM/be/BE_013.html Located behind the drivers side kick panel http://www.cygnusx1.net/supra/library/TSRM/be/BE_010.html...

    Mounting Walbro FP Externally?

Electric fuel pumps are very good at pushing fuel (pressure) past the pump. But pulling the fuel in (suction) is a problem. The diaphram fuel pumps (mechanical) are better at suction but poor at creating enough pressure for fuel injection. You'll probably notice a lot of cars in the '80s when...

    What is this light?!

How many miles on the motor? My oil pressure looked like that before I used the JDM oil pump on my JDM swap. (That was a bad idea.) At 3100 RPM it would be a little over 60. Never got below 40, even at idle, when it was new.
