Gauging Interest: Rear subframe repair kit

A little late for mine...I've already replaced and reinforced my subframe :S. Mine cracked through on the diff mount just for any of you who were curious. That was a nasty job to pull it all and replace...ended up having to cut my lower control arms off and get new ones :(

    o2 sensor

For an AFR gauge to work it NEEDS a wideband. Check the manual on the gauge to see what wideband sensors it supports. Chances are it's going to be this though ;) http://www.autometer.com/cat_datadetail.aspx?pid=54 All of their meters that I saw use the Bosch wideband sensor. If you want...

    o2 sensor

If I'm not mistaken, MOST kits include the same Bosch 5 wire wideband O2 sensor, so really what you have to look at is the translation from the gauge or what your equipment that you want to use it with can take for an input.

    Code 21 keeps coming back

No, I have no cats in my system and my O2 sensor has been fine. I'd say check your wiring...make sure it's not shorting anywhere etc.

What do you guys think 7m or 1jz??

I'm pretty sure 90% of the people here would love to see a 2J in their car, but the whole dollars and cents things gets in the way of that pretty quick usually. There's nothing wrong with going to either the 1J or the 7M, like all people have said, each will have their own...

    are these rims too BIG?

Holy multipost batman! We should put a disclaimer on "Don't hit the back button" or "Don't click the post button more than once" up, haha! My personal taste is for 18" rims on the Supra, but I have seen 19" rims done. Are your fenders rolled? What offset are you going to be running (this...

    Oily gunky intake manifold runners

I'll get my cold start injector cleaned up then along with all the others. Any recommendations on a good injector cleaner I can soak them in without damaging the plastics?

    Oily gunky intake manifold runners

I'm gonna clean it all up obviously but I just found it curious that the 1/2/3 runners where SIGNIFICANTLY more gunked than the 4/5/6 runners.

    Oily gunky intake manifold runners

During my top end tear down I just noticed something sort of odd. I know that the intake gets some gunk in it from recircs/valve cover breathers/etc., but I noticed something sort of interesting. In my intake manifold (past the throttle body) the gunk/oily residue is MUCH more prominent in the...

    Project Head Swap

I found my "oops" picture....dunno if this is going to be clear enough, I'll take a better picture tonight. I was pretty out of it after 7 1/2 hours of working on car in the sun, picking up tools I forgot, working on car some more, picking up MORE tools I forgot, working on car, and making yet...

    Project Head Swap

So I'm finding out first hand that Supra's are like 2 stroke engines...the need a bit of blood and sweat mixed with each tank of gas or else they don't run anymore. So this is what I got done...wish I could have snapped more pics, but it was VERY messy. What I started with: After...

    Project Head Swap

Ok, the head is officially off! I have to run out right away, but I have pictures to post, and an "oops I pulled too hard, what did I wreck?" type picture.

    Project Head Swap

So after a year and a half of saving and collecting parts it's finally come to the point where I can work! For those of you who don't know, a year and a half ago I took my car off the road due to what was a possible BHG, but more than likely a cracked head. I figured it out VERY early (no...

A hard time finding a head

I picked mine up off eBay. It was bare, but completely clean, no warpage/cracks/annealing/etc. It was a VERY lucky find...got it for $140 USD shipped to my door. They're on there once in a while though. Things to check/ask when buying a second hand head: Cracks (pressure tested?) Warped...

driveshaft is loose in the center. Center bearing bad?

+1 to that. You WILL notice a noise or vibration when the shaft has play or is out of balance at all. I agree with hvyman...if you're not noticing driveability problems, don't sweat it too much.

Stock Exhaust to Test Pipe Hook Up?

Make sure you have the right type of flanges on the test pipe first obviously, but assuming that's true, it is just a matter of lining up the holes and bolting it up. Test pipes are made to be the same working dimmensions as a cat for specifically that reason, so you can bolt it up in place of...

Anyone know a good method to allign/put a new door on the supra?

Another +1 to the jack method. We've used the jack method at the GM dealership numerous times on quite a variety of different vehicles.

    4000 for a 7mgte swap?!?!?!

$4,000 seems a bit expensive for the package... Does it come with any sort of warranty? What kind of guarantee is there behind this other than "low mileage". And again, define low mileage. Some say >50,000, others >30,000, and some would even count >100,000 as low mileage. It's more than...

    Coated Pistons vs Forged Pistons

As many have said before already, if you're looking at both, get the forged. This leaves the option to later aim for more hp, and even if you don't, it's always nice to overbuild in terms of strength.

    Gas/Turpentine How do I know?

I've honestly never heard bad things about Seafoam. Now I'm kinda freaked out having run almost 3/4 tank of old gas through my car with the stuff in it....
