    Project Head Swap

Got some knock sensors in my PO box today, picked up a few more O-rings and gaskets I was missing, soaked my injectors overnight, and got the new head back from machining. Tonight I might start putting things back together depending on how parts cleanup goes. I want to get things looking nice...

    Around 300hp power goals?

Then my straight out honest answer would be wait until you have the time and $$ to get the work done. Better to drive it at a lower hp than even having the slightest risk of blowing it up IMHO. It will only set you up to have your car off the road and at 0 hp if things do break and you can't...

BOV recirculate - what kind of hose/setup are you using?

I've got a big fat chunk of heater hose...looks ugly, but it gets the job done. My BOV is mounted close to where the stock one is, venting towards the passenger side of the engine bay. I'll look for a replacement that's prettier when I stop having to spend money just making it run...

    Around 300hp power goals?

Does anyone else feel like this thread is just circling around itself? 6 pages in short form: Can you run 300hp with the stock hg/bolts? Yes Do you NEED to change to a mhg/arp hardware? No Should you change to a mhg/arp hardware? Probably You can go and throw 300hp at the setup the way...

    NO BOOST after swap

If it's shuddering a lot it's possible it's a miss. Check your plugs and plug wires. Double check all your wiring, never can be too sure about it.

    Around 300hp power goals?

Why can't you machine the block? Just time/labour/$$? Honestly without putting an MHG on there I would keep it closer to stock, maybe just an intake and catback. That in itself would increase your boost 1psi or so just from freeing exhaust/intake restriction, but I wouldn't push it any...

Alternator problem, Low voltage, please check my work

My suggestion would be to find an inductive clamp and test the amperage coming out of the alternator, but my guess is it is on it's way out.

    Around 300hp power goals?

+1 on replacing the head gasket if it hasn't been done so on a 140,000mi car. Start cranking up the power and that head gasket will more than likely just give up even if it was retorqued. I've got the metal headgasket and ARP studs on my car, 2.5" metal IC pipes on stock IC, 57-trim CT26 @...

    head gasket

Check codes, check ignition timing, and I don't know if the car would even idle if the timing belt was a tooth off on either of the cams or crank, but check that too. 90% likely you'll find your problem in one of those 3 places ;)

ACTION NEEDED: get us hawk pads thread

That's not horrible....the Integra and one of the CRXs goes through a set of Hawk Blues in a weekend and a half if they're lucky. Integra's usually through his in a weekend if it's a 2 or 3 race weekend. I'll send off a note though, as poodles said...why is having more options a bad thing?

The MK3 Investment....more expensive than children???

This is all in Canadian dollars, but here we go... Car Purchase - $5500 Repairs - $5200 Go Faster Parts - $500 General Maintenance - $350 Most of the repairs were done by a mechanic though...so that makes for a LOT of the cost. Needless to say I'm going to be doing a lot of my own work from...

    Gas pedal/Accelerator question

It is definitely a "heavier" pedal than most gas pedals. I like it much more, easier for throttle control with the extra resistance IMO. If I go from my Supra to my Corolla though, it's a night and day difference with how the pedal feels and usually results in revving the Corolla a little...

    What size Head gasket?

How much did the machine shop overbore? Can you provide a link or brand/part# of the specific pistons? Double check your numbers and make sure you are getting the decimal in the right spot and your form of measurement right (inches vs mm). 0.5mm = 0.020" if that's what you were trying to get...

    What size Head gasket?

I sure hope you mean 0.050", I don't think 0.50" is even possible. 0.050" = 1.27mm Stock Bore = 83.0mm (3.267") New Bore = 84.27mm (3.317") In otherwords, don't get an 84mm bore gasket, 85mm or 86mm should work fine. I know for a fact most HKS head gaskets are 86mm by default to make...

You go through 6 sets of brake pads in a year on your car? What the heck do you do to it?! On the other side though, I do pit crew work for a small race team at the local road course track made up of 3 Honda CRXs and a 93 Integra GS-R and we use a variety of different Hawk track and street...

    Choosing tires.

I haven't used the Generals on a Supra, but I've got some buddies who have put them on a couple 240SXs and a Skyline GTS-T, and they seemed to work pretty nice for the price. Wear was pretty good too, even under fairly aggressive driving. Those Kumhos are a decent tire to, but I honestly...
