A Holset is a much more affordable option, but I am simply too mesmerized by the idea of having a billet compressor and dbb CHRA that I think it'd absolutely be worth it! In for results
There's no good reason why a CT-26 should do that. My T4 diesel turbo does that. We're going to need more information and maybe pictures of the car with your setup.
Becauseican has been a big part of the MkIII community for a while. You get what you pay for with car parts, and this is no exception. That's my opinion
I cant remember if it was the case or not on JZs, but IIRC, the lines were supposed to be straight up and the dots match close to each other. That way you know they are both TDC and timed together
Wow, that's...well yeah you might want to do something about that!
My car has been sitting for years, so I cant imagine what the pump and hangar look like in mine. If that is any indication, looks like a whole new fuel system is in my future!
Yes, the heads are the same and the exhaust cam is the same. The gear on the exhaust cam drives either the CPS (GTE) or the distributor (GE)
The intake cam is a little different. I believe it has a bit more duration, but nothing to write home about. There has been lots of debate on the forums...
Wow, cool stuff! The pictures are very much appreciated, as you never know when someone else might be trying a similar idea and can find this useful :)
I see part of what you're trying to say, but the oil thins viscosity with heat, not thickens. The level doesnt change too much (compared to, say, coolant) but when it does, it's mostly because it is being recirculated. I dont think youre going to get much aeration unless you have a leak, you're...
This is a very good idea. I'm 80% certain that the diff will be painless because of the drivetrain, but you should absolutely check.
I'm not sure if the ID badge is on the firewall or in the driver side door sill. In 89, Toyota moved the plate there on the Supra, not sure if it stayed on other...
This thread is the depressing truth of trying to maintain a MkIII, especially a 7M. Many are lured in by the low initial cost, then realize that it will be double that just to keep it on the road. I was in a similar situation: bought mine at 15 years old for $2600, and over the next few months...
This seems to be a popular option, and I plan on doing this myself, after cleaning it out first.
IIRC, the biggest reason the MkIII wasnt a very successful race car was because they DNF'd due to steering failure and overheating. I saw results awhile back for races from the 80s, and the races...
That air filter test has been around the internet for quite some time now, and has swayed many a person to buy the incredibly expensive Apexi kit. The truth is that you cant have more flow (more power) AND filter better. I cant remember where I saw it, but there was a follow up test to that...
I really hope you get this fixed, because it sounds like the entire system has been replaced, yet still doesnt work. Please let us know when it is fixed, and what fixed it
