Thats not entirely true. An early turbo MkIII weighs the same or less than a late turbo MkIV. You are often a "remove the full size spare and some other stuff" away from similar weights.
I agree with not going for the MkIV for listed reasons..even if you get a good job, you dont know that it'll...
As of 1989, all Toyotas had their firewall badge moved to the door jam. Supposed to have the same info on it.
The build threads that dont have the badge are 89+ chassis'.
Like this isnt debated all the time :icon_roll
7Ms break because the owner or previous owner didnt care for it.
I bought my 7M modded and its the only car I've had that hasnt left me stranded; only one I havent had towed.
Treat it right, and it'll love you back. That doesnt mean dont go...
Well I think the USDM cars only came in 1, 2 or 4 trims. I have a turbo targa. Someone with a hardtop N/A needs to chime in.
Of course, if something changed with the 89+s when they moved the model badge, this would complicate everything further.
Err yeah, I meant all 7M cars came with "MA70." Now that we're talking about all MkIIIs and not just USDM ones, I forgot to specify that :P
Who knows? Maybe having a digi dash even matters.
I dont think the narrow bodies are any different. I think all models, trim, etc. have "MA70," since even turbos have "MA70" for the chassis. Maybe the unfortunate narrow ones dont have "MA70L," I'm not sure.
The easiest thing to do would be to go to a junkyard and find some e-fans that work. Not sure what more to say about it. I think thats what I have (previous owner did it) but mine say Aisin on them, so they are OEM Toyota ones.
Its a fighting battle with money really. Usually stuff that has new parts for the same price is pretty crappy and unwanted, or just newer and a LOT more expensive. Stuff thats older but more desirable is still older and will need money dumped into it to do basic maintenance.
I just checked your...
Even if you got a good deal on a MkIV, I think the money could be better spent elsewhere.
I'd stick with what I know and love; MkIIIs. Yeah, you'd have to go through the work of swapping again (sounds like your luck is pretty bad!), but you know (or should know) the MkIII inside and out. I say...
I bought a set of BFGoodrich G-Force T/A Sports...for my Miata in 16s.
I decided to go back to the stock 14s and the Supra needed tires too, so now thats what it has lol. I havent driven the Supra with the G-Forces, but the Miata was incredible with them. Excellent forward traction, despite the...
Technically I shouldnt have them. They werent called back by BMW for warranty, so they should be thrown in the trash like the rest of the stuff (thats still good :nono: ). I've considered it, but theres not much demand for it anyways.
I have other stuff here too. Its pretty neat. 8 series...
Hahaha, not what I did. Pretty much everything I've learned I've taught myself. Started off with the donut, cut 25% out and made a straight tube out from it (compressor outlet), put another tube through the middle for the inlet...
Everything but the A/R was to exact spec too. For someone as...
Nah, its mine too :icon_razz. People are confused when I say that, but I prefer it even to the MkIV. Dont get me wrong, I still really really want a MkIV 2J-T, but I just prefer the MkIII. My engine bay vs. the MkIV's...theres just less unnecessary stuff to complicate things etc. Its just...
