    help with brakes????

The reason you use hydraulic oil instead of water in the brake lines or anyother hydraulic system is for compressability. Fliuds compress just like anything else. Although I don't know how much compressibility you loose because of only a few percent of water in the lines.

    help with brakes????

I read somewhere its recommended to change brake fluid every year. But I don't know anyone that does. Water gets into the system through the seals and starts corrosion and of course you loose compressibility of the brake fluid too.

    Need help fast

I'd check for power at the EFI fuse receptacle if the fuse is not blown. It'll till you if the problem is before the fuse if you don't get power. Hopefully the problem is before the EFI fuse.

    Best Upgrade

I've done the HKS Sport exhaust, the expensive K & N filter kit (FIPK or something like that), sway bars, shocks, 245ZR16 tires and NA>T. Of course the best performance was the NA>T. But for me, the best NA mod was the suspension upgrade (Tokico TEMS, F/R sway bars, and 245ZR16 tires). The NA...

    Slow as Hell!

Where in So Cal? LA? OC? San Diego? The places I know that knows something about Toyotas, other than dealers, does mostly rebuilds, not maintanance. But they'll probably do maintenance too for a price.

    Quick FAL electric fan question

SP 7M, The FAL fans require a lot of current to run. You've got to hook it up to a high current source, normally (in my case but not always) the battery terminal. The idea of running a control box or relay is to turn on and off the fan, just like a switch but for high current. The...

    Exaust question

The HKS Sport exhaust is a little loader than stock. It has that stock dual tail pipe look. I didn't notice any improvement in performance when I used it. That video sounded a lot loader than mine.

    Quick FAL electric fan question

Mine came with a thermostat and control box. You don't need a relay or a manual switch with it. The relay is built in and it has an input for a manual switch, or so it appears. I put the control box next to the battery. Hence I connected the power right from the battery. I would strongly...

    Which Fuel Pump??

If you're not planning on high boost when you go turbo, the Mk IV pump is a reliable alternative. It is expensive though. But it shouldn't leave you stranded on the road. I've heard some people say the Walbro is not the most reliable pump alternative.

    clutch help!

If you're bleeding the clutch yourself, you need one of those kits. If not, you have to close the bleed port before the person in the car lets up on the pedal or you'll just suck air back in. It does sound odd that the pedal doesn't return, like somethings not letting the spring return the...

    please explain

The full NA>T is not just an engine swap. Just about everything is different in a GTE. The ignition is different, the ECU is different, the injectors are bigger........ The NA>1/2T is OK for low boost. Some guys may not want a turbo monster and do a complete under hood swap out, just a...

    89 7m n/a -gte

Search this SM site. There's a lot of info here about NA>T mods. Do you plan on doing the full conversion? You can also just add the turbo with the intercooler stuff and use all the NA electronics (NA>1/2T) Believe it or not, almost everything is different on the 7MGTE.

    Wiring harness question...Please help!

My advise is buy a new harness. The connectors do get brittle and break when handled. No matter how careful you are. The connector on the ECU is different from '89+. You'll need one for a 86.5-88. You should also remove the ECU and get the part number off of it. You'll probably need it...

    Oilllllllll Problemmm Leaking Helpppp

The valve cover screws are not locking. They are not suppose to be tightened too tight either. Engine vibration loosens them all the time. They should be checked yearly. You might try some locktite or high temp seal on the threads to keep them from backing out.

I think my TPS is bad

Toyota specialist told me that they don't set the TPS like the TSRM. He also told me that the resistances of the TPS was not correct in the TSRM. I don't know about setting the TPS, but he was right about the resistance. It didn't match the TSRM and he knew exactly what it was and they never...

    Are headers worth it?

The header I had was suppose to be smog legal. You can check the California Aftermarket Parts Device Type Listing of Executive Order at http://www.arb.ca.gov/msprog/aftermkt/devices/amquery.php If its listed and you get it, print a copy of the Executive Order and keep it in the glove box...

    Capacitor

Capacators act as high pass filters. So if you have a capacator with a low enough cross over point, it will stabalize the power to the amp better. Capacators are used in the speaker cross over (typically). Long time ago my brother had to use a capacator in the power line to his stereo because...
