I doubt a boost leak. I just talked to another guy with the same problem and he said his MAP was bad. By taking the hose off the ignitor, do you maybe mean the MAP sensor?
Sounds like you've got a bad coil. Pull it off and look for cracks. They're small and hard to see but they'll give you hell. Also make sure your coil connectors are snug.
My car is doing the rev limit thing too. I think it's just running overly rich since it hasn't been tuned yet. My thought...
I'm from Bozeman. I finally talked to Gary, and he's living in Washington now.
If you're planning to go to any local car events in Billings, you should let me know and I can try to make it. Three isn't anthing like that here in Bozeman that I'm aware of.
YAY shatter2, another Supra in the region! I have relatives and friends in Utah. I looked for Supra parts while I was there last summer. Slim pickn's. I found one picked over '89 N/A. It seems everyone there is a bit more partial to domestics.
Back on topic, I think my 3.73's are a bit steep...
Nevermind what I said about oil pressure, I don't know what I was thinking.
Brake/clutch fluid wouldn't ever be sucked in. Power steering fluid could in theory if the idle-up valve is damaged. It would burn white. If you have PS fluid in your vacuum lines going to the PS idle up then I'd...
I'm certain it's turbo seals. I don't have any visible blow-by in the intake. My 7M had crap valve seals and a new turbo and it only smoked on cold start-up. My 1JZ, like others, smokes at warm idle. With the valve seals, the oil pools on top of them and burns off when you start the car. With...
Mine smokes the same way. I have the 1st gen PCV system but I know that's not the problem because if I take the intake pipe off there's no oil residue. I think that we both just need to come to terms with the fact that it's the turbo seals.
I used them for my 1J, which uses the same as the 7M. The threads are the same and everything, they're just a far sturdier looking mount and feel a fair bit stiffer too.
