    Steve's mildly out-of-control build

Waiting, waiting, waiting! Marlin crawler still hasn't shipped the shift fork or thrust washer, the head is still being worked on, and everything else kinda hinges on those 2 things! I have started to proces of getting a 3.5" driveshaft to prepare for the 4.3 rear end install that will...

    Boost leak?!?

I modded mine to change its operational characteristics to combat that condition. Its not [AFM/vent to atmosphere] friendly, but if you re-route it or run speed-density its great! I think I'll do a write-up on it- it wasn't that hard to do.

    Launching with 2 step question.

2-step is nice for getting consistant with your launches- since it determines what RPM the engine will be at- all you have to do is let the clutch out the same (or similar) every time. Its not explicitly for building boost (that's getting into anti-lag kind-of setups, which is what I use) You...

    Launching with 2 step question.

Not always, its how you launch. I could dump the clutch at redline with the drags (26x10.5x15 ET streets, heated) and burn through 1st gear, but if I slipped the clutch from 5000 it launched much better and cut a half-second off the ET. If you go 28x12x15/16 full slick then maybe- but they are...

    Launching with 2 step question.

The slipping is to keep the momentum in the drivetrain going and also deliver a smoother launch to keep traction vs dumping the clutch. Dumnping the clutch may bog the engine and you lose all that boost you built up. As with everything, this is very much open to interpretation- and I am by no...

Can someone help me to identify this?

Kills noise in the entire electrical system. By default it cleans up the supply voltage to the radio to help reduce the alternator whine.

Removing Stock 2JZ Head Bolts - "10mm bi hexagon wrench" ?

o.O I thought you were referring to 12point vs 6 point...thats really odd. I can honestly say I've never seen that...ever. Good thing you're ditching them for better hardware!

Removing Stock 2JZ Head Bolts - "10mm bi hexagon wrench" ?

the 10 is a 10mm hex, and the 12 is a 12mm hex- should be self-explanitory... Toyota really only uses 2 sizes of head bolts- 8mm bi-hex on E-series and NZ-series engines, and 10mm bi-hex on MZ, VZ, JZ, etc engines. Can't remember what my stock 7M bolts were, iirc they were 10mm hex/bi-hex

Removing Stock 2JZ Head Bolts - "10mm bi hexagon wrench" ?

Triple square= German cars Bi-Hexagonal= Japanese cars They are not the same, don't try to use them interchangably, it will not end well. Triple square: Bi-hex

NAPA sent me the WRONG engine!!!

He replaced a longblock, not a used engine. A longblock includes block, crank, pistons, rods, bearings, head, head gasket, valves, cams, (sometimes valve covers and timing covers, not often, though) The 7M looks the same whether turbo or NA from the outside (aside from a couple differences) but...

13" Wilwood Kit - What rotors are they?

In the ARZ kit, they're not 1 piece rotors, Andy builds the hat for them and buys willwood rotors to bolt onto them. I have no idea about the ebay version, although I highly disapprove of the drilled rotors :( Looking more closely, the ebay kit uses smaller rotors as well- 12.76" x 1.18" vs...

The Madness Begins... 90 N/A-T Build

All you have to do is follow the factory bearing sizing procedure in the repair manual. There's stamped numbers on the crank and block- comparing the numbers against the manual will tell you what size bearings you should need. Additionally, you need to triple check to make sure the cap surfaces...

    Head removal question

If that's the case I'd say you'll have to pull the cams. Its not that hard, just be careful you don't tilt the cam in the head too badly- its possible to crack it/the head.

    Head removal question

Strange, my BC272's and stockers don't have interference like that...I'd be very interested to find out exactly what those cams are!
