But the IGSW signal that tells the ECU to activate the EFI Main Relay is on the IG2 circuit. Where is it getting a signal from if the AM2 fuse is out? No power is coming across the jumper until the main relay activates. It can't activate until it get an IGSW signal. I'm still trying to figure...
Hey Suzie, I doubt the AM2 fuse or EFI fuse is blown, easy to check though. EFI Main Relay, that the IG2 circuit is tied into and getting power from, is powered by the EFI fuse, which is inturn powered by the 30A AM2 fuse. So to power the system and get the engine to run, the AM2 fuse would have...
I assume you are talking about the EFI Main Relay. Pin 4 goes to the EFI fuse, which is unswitched and should always have 12v going to it, even with the ignition off.

The next step I would take is to check with the...
A common misconception is that a code 52 means that the engine is detecting knock. This is not the case as detected knock is taken care of by the TCCS behind the scenes. A code 52 means that there is a fault in the system for detecting knock. This prevents the TCCS from actively controlling...
Fuel pressure should be 23-30psi at idle with the vacuum line connected, 33-40psi when disconnected. That is for stock. It is also a good starting point for the Lex/550 mod. Adjustments to that pressure should only be made by your tuner in conjunction with a wideband. Any adjustments are only...
Poodles is saying that AFM housing maybe a suitable replacement for the stock 7MGTE AFM housing. It is not however the appropriate AFM housing for the LEX/550 upgrade. That is a different housing.
44 years ago mankind was destined for far greater things. Oh how our dreams have atrophied.
Here's to you Neil. May visionaries like you and your kind grace us more than once every few generations.::salute::
The wiper system is pretty simple. There are only a handful of things that could be wrong. Even less when you consider what circuits are shared by both front and rear wipers.
We verified that the system has power by checking pin 4 at the motor.
It's unlikely any of the grounds are bad as you...
I mentioned the fuse because even if the fuse is good you might not be getting 12v to the fuse. The test just confirmed you are so that's good. The relay looks more like what you are thinking of as a control module for the front wipers, on the rear it's attached right to the motor. Are you...
Note: The ECU will only turn on the O2 sensors heater when the following parameters are met.
* When intake air flow is below a given point.
And
*Coolant temp is above 32°F
*specified time has elapsed after starting.(I am unsure what this time is. Pi or JJ might know.)
Until the...
The rear wiper relay and motor are are together. The front wiper relay is up by the passenger kick panel. A fault in one would not stop the other from operating. Both could be bad, but there are other more likely possibilities. I would test for 12v at the connector for the front wiper motor...
Did you fully seperate the thin shield braiding from the small inner core stranded wire on those coming out of the ecu? This is something a lot of people miss the first time they do this rewire.
You should definitely troubleshoot the system. We're still missing something though, based on the information at hand I can't explain why the engine would start with the jumper wire but not without it. I have some ideas but nothing I can backup.
Remove the jumper wire and test:
At DIAG...
The reason I suspect that the EFI Main Relay is still functioning is because you stated even if you turn the ignition off the engine continues to run. The only way this can happen is if unswitched power is still coming across the EFI Main Relay. To do this the EFI main relay must be working. The...
I was there when he was debating whether to get rid of the subie, and while your story isn't to far off, there are a few things that are not as I remember them. He was tired of the car, and very ready to move on with Evo's. The fuel pump in that subie was shot and in dire need of replacement...
In theory no, I don't believe the EFI main relay is bad. If it was, the the car wouldn't be able to operate after the key was turned off. If you can get your hands on a multi-meter, it would be better to troubleshoot rather than throw parts at it.
First, I would like to reiterate what Jetjock said.Throw the Haynes in the trash! That book is one of the single greatest pieces of misinformation, inaccuracy, and blatant laziness ever put to print. I'm sorry if you paid cash to get it, consider it an unfortunate, and costly lesson, and move...
