Have you checked for cracks in your coil packs? Mine did the same thing only at a higher rpm. It ended up being my coil packs. Would idle good and drive good. But when I would get on it and start to build boost it would fall on its face bad. My wideband would read really lean. I do you have a...

+1 on the compression test. Are you sure you stabbed the cps the right way? Can you take a pic at tdc of the cps? Do you have the wires in the right firing order?

Are you discounting that you may have routed the harness wrong and that's why it won't reach? Pull the glove box find the pps pins run a wire from the pin to the plug then run some power to one end and see if it comes out the other.

I can't say for sure that they go together, but maybe when you changed the head gasket you routed the wire harness wrong?

Ohm and feeler gauge. I put mine on wrong and it did the same thing. Hit 3500 and just cut out hard. I couldn't even get it out of second gear. Also once I had a stall problem and low idle. It ended up being the gasket on my throttle body. Have you checked what your plugs look like?

The stall seems like a vacuum leak somewhere. The hitting a wall at at 3500 seems like a tps not installed the right way. Except for the black smoke. Any codes
