7 mths for the '88T project, (new everything), one wk for the n/a dd (alternator?). Another $10K and my "project" should be on the road, sans paint and body.
that sucks, its a great ride. Buy a beater, keep the Soup, after all the blood, sweat and effort, a block & a set of rods is minor. When summer comes, you'll be glad you kept it.
When you talk to the doc don't forget to mention your headaches and doublevision and dizziness...and you never had a history of seizures before this didja?...
oh man, that sucks royally! don't sign off on anything until you're 100% healthy. Talk about worst case spots to get bingoed. At least you walked away, albeit with a limp...
does anyone have a pic of an '88T tps? I can't find mine after teardown, and I don't think the brown backed one I did find is from the '88... (note to self, organize parts better after garage fire)
what does machining costs have to do with building a motor thats "running like a champ?" Wait for it to blow up, then rebuild it stronger. If it ain't broke, don't fix it...
welcome to the 7M bhg club. Its very liberal, encompassing fellow 7M owners from around the world. Dues include long nights rebuilding your 7M and alternately cursing and venerating the fickle 7M Gods. MHG's and ARP's are your allies in this battle.
check the fuse/relay on the passenger's side kick panel. You have to pull the plastic cover to get to it. Mine was dislodged and it was the same thing. gl
if you stick your hand in there you'll feel a small rubber plug on each side (nearer the front iirc). Also of course theres one in the "doughnut" for the spare. Look for leaks thru the rear brake light assemblies, also the back window "teardrop" molding leaks alot of the time as well.
$200 sounds about right if you don't have to do anything else. If you ever plan on more boost, I'd look into decking the block, front timing cover, and head for a MHG. I'm ripping mine down and rebuilding everything, but thats just me. Mines around 3K now, but 1/4 of that was forged pistons.
what are the widest wheels you can run on a MKIII, assuming upgraded suspension of course? There were some whls & tires fs on here and they were 18X10 rears & 18X9 fronts would they fit depending entirely on offset?
My '87 n/a is my dd. I've owned it for 5 yrs, did alot of work to it, but its a great car. My '88T is undergoing major surgery now, we'll see how temperamental it is...I'm hoping the Supra gods will be happy with me rebuilding everything, since I can only afford to keep one.
Innovate LC-1 WB was recommended to me to run with the Maftpro. DrJonez is the man to talk to. I haven't set mine up yet, so I can't give you an evaluation.
