    build thread......bhg

Looks like someone took a dump on your supra man.... Just kidding, good luck

    What?!

its likely a BPT tapered thread, rather than the normal NPT. They are ever so slightly different.

    do supras need premium gas???

I use 87 octane in my NA and its just fine. Just make sure you have your timing at the stock 10 degrees btdc.

    What?!

There is an outer brass thing that screws into the block, on the side of it there is a hole. There is a bolt that screws down the center of the outer part, when you unscrew the center part, before it comes all the way out it reveals the hole, allowing the coolant to come out. You never have to...

    What?!

There is supposed to be a bolt in it. Theres a brass part that screws into the block, and theres a bolt part that screws into that fitting to plug it off.

whats the best way to remove a broken screw ..

well, if just the head broke off you can just remove the y pipe and use vice grips on it, im sure you know that but some people may not have figured that out if they had a similar problem.

general rebuild questions, crank scoring, etc.

I dont see why you would not get both the block and the head machined if you have everything bare and apart, that is the hardest part. Even though it is a GE and a stock build, i would personally get everything machined as its not all that expensive and will further aid to making the engine...

To retorque or not to retorque after 6K miles....

so even after 500-1000 miles, it is safe to do a re torque on a composite gasket?

Idling RPMs get lower and lower

I could only imagine its for some type of cooling for the motor or for some kind of pressure difference... Teach me old wise one.

    back in the supra thingy.

head surfacing is cheap! Better to just do it for reassurance. THere is a lot of pressure in the cylinders, any little path where it can escape, it will.

    Oil pressure

With the key on and the engine off, does the oil pressure gauge read any pressure?

    clutch pedal problem

Check for leaks and the fluid level in the clutch master cylinder. After the problem is fixed, bleed the system of air the same way you would with brakes.

Idling RPMs get lower and lower

i would pull down the glove box and look for any after market things in there/wiring first off

    Head repair?

i am going to keep driving it for a while to confirm it wasn't just trapped air, but i am pretty confident it is leaking. I will also be doing a leakage test to confirm it. It has a new radiator cap and no leaks. Its not burning coolant, just a small trap of air after a drive.

    Head repair?

I recently did a head gasket job on my NA Supra with 86k original miles. It had a slightly blown head gasket in 5 and 6. I took it all apart, got everything machined and put the head on a stock head gasket with new bolts torqued to 72 ft lbs. The head had some pitting around 2 of the coolant...

To retorque or not to retorque after 6K miles....

Sorry to thread jack, but i did not want to make a whole new thread. Is it a good idea to re torque after just about 500-800 miles? I replaced the head gasket on my 7mge with a stock replacement and new Toyota oem head bolts about 5-800 miles ago. I did a re torque after 4 heat cycles, but...
