Search for "EGR*" without the quotes. There are tons of old discussions on this. The simple thing to say is if you are running a USDM ECU, run EGR. EGR gives better gas milage and lowers EGT's.
I remember being taught in driver's ed. here that's it's illegal to coast in neutral or with the clutch in.
Not that they could possibly know you were doing it, but it all depends on the type of stop I'm doing.
What happens is the plastic they use gets destroyed by UV, but is good for making lenses. They spray on a UV coating that gets chipped, then it starts hazing (think of it as a rock chip on your hood, it rusts and spreads).
