We're talking about a competition for acceleration here, not top speed. Longer gears for our car would also mean 1. More initial lag 2. below powerband upon shift into the next gear. You'd have to overrev a gear just to be close to peak output for the next gear. I think stock R154 and 3.73's...

There's a guy around here, with exhaust, cam, and DR's I haven't seen him run slower than 12.2. They really aren't easy to beat in the quarter.

Fuel cut typically comes in around 12-13 psi. But you'll probably only see about 10psi in lower gears.
