    The HG thang

Just a few examples I found where a retorque is required. Ford retorque procedure http://www.fordscorpio.co.uk/manual/engines/tdi/TDICHBolts.pdf "Retorque cylinder head bolts Before carrying out the following operation, allow the engine to warm up for about 20 minutes and then allow the...

    The HG thang

It has to do with the head gasket type/material, and the manufacturer will tell you if a retorque is required. The 7m Felpro gasket is a "permatorque" type and does not require a retorque, but its easy enough that I do it on my car.

OK I received my damper.... I cannot for the life of me figure out what is wrong with it. Literally, there is one SPECK on the entire unit where the black paint is chipped. Imagine dropping a quarter on the pulley and it making a tiny silver speck, that is all I can find wrong with it. ATI must...

    Piston decision.....

That's the crankshaft that's in my car right now :D. Took it to John in Costa Mesa a couple years ago. So then it seems bob weights on an inline crankshaft are not necessary but probably used for very high performance builds?

    Piston decision.....

Everything I can find online says that bob weights aren't needed for inline engines, but not really sure why. I remember Rich saying that bob weights are not typically used for inline cranks as well, and when my crank was balanced there were no bob weights installed...

    Piston decision.....

I thought bob weights were only used on V configured engines? Not that I know anything about engine balancing, but I always wondered how they compensated for a lighter piston/rod assembly when all they seem to do is match each piston to the others, and all rods to the others on each end, then...

Do you know if this damper comes with the AC pulley? Also, I read somewhere that the crank bolt needs to be machined slightly, is this true?

    Oil Pressure Gauge Question

So the gauge used to read normal sometimes and randomly spike sometimes, but now it reads 0 all the time? Test the gauge and replace it if it is bad. If it spikes again then you need to figure out the source of the problem before you blow another gauge. First thing I would do if it continues to...

My *sort of* build thread. (PIC WHORE)

Thanks Zum! I did bypass the coolant on the turbo just to simplify things. After some reading, it really isn't necessary if you use a good quality synthetic oil and cool the turbo off before shutdown.

    w58 on 7mgte?

I made 390 ft lbs of torque to the wheels through my W58 last year. Ran it like that for a year or so, still using the same trans without any problems, I drove it hard pretty regularly too. No saying what will happen if you have sticky tires and dump the clutch.
