The stock turbo elbow is known to be a huge restriction. I would get a 3" wide mouth or DDP/recirculated DDP as it should at the very least allow the turbo to spool quicker.

When you say metal ring are you just talking about the dust shield? If so just bend it semi strait or in this case round and call it good as it is not a piece that is seen anyway. Just make sure that it will not conntact the DS.
