the fire you saw could have been oil from your valve covers leaking down... this happened on my 87... check to see if you have any oil in your spark plug galley... if so tighten your valve covers... I usually tighten/check mine once a week...

It could be that you have an NA diff... b\c that's exactly how far mines off @65 and I have an NA diff with the turbo tranny...
