Continued from top post.
Ok, lets find the horn and parkinglight wires.
Here you can see the blue/red horn trigger wire and the pink w/silver bands Parking light wire. these are both in the smaller of two black connectors below the steering column. they are to the left of the ign. conn...
The Air pressure sensors are not meant for open vehicles, they measure differences in airpressure caused my someone pounding on a window as an example. The radar type usually called a Proximity or prox for short is a better choice for a removed targa. I would mount this in the drivers footwell...
As far as deforming the tire I doubt 80 psi would ever be capable of that. I believe Car and Driver had an article testing Z rated tires where they stated that a tire spinning at 150 mph put the equivalent of 3000 psi on the tread area of the tire. I know thats apples and oranges but it shows...
Yeah I had to put 115 psi into my 18" yokohamas to get them to seat properly. Real scary but I was told that it was due to the hump in the middle of the lexus rims i'm using. They usually have a TPMS in them and the hump is to protect the sensor if the tire goes flat. The tech probably just...
Thanks for the kind words, but its nothing compred to that build thread you've got going. I noticed Its called a twin 7m build? have you posted any pics of the turbos yet? or the mani's ?
Yeah I've been thinking about trying to put a dyno meet together. maybe here in Toms River. After that we could roll over to Seaside or something.
hey Isphius, Do you still want those seats?
Hey SC I bought my first Supra in '88 to replace my '84 T/A , So I'm not really new to this. I remember how solid my 87 t hardtop felt compared to the T/A . On the highway that car felt the same at 65 mph or 145 mph. thats when I fell in love with supras. Even my '98 Z-28 with suspension work...
As far as messing up the balance, an aluminum block LSX motor weighs less than a 7mgte. Remember aside from the light block it has welded exaust manifolds and a comosite intake. A LSX motor is also more compact than a quad overhead cam v8. thats why its such a popular transplant.
Just going by the specs on these pages it looks like the JL's are the most innovative of the bunch. they should be able to handle alot of power but most likely at the expense of sensetivity. The earthquakes look like standard motor structures mounted to squashed baskets. So do the pioneers.
It...
My problem with JL is that they tend to use cone matierials that absorb distortion noise. This tends to hide amp clipping so people tend to think the JL's sound louder than brand X on the same amp. The down side is that some that doesn't realize this will drive their amps deeper into distortion...
I just wanted to add that I feel you on thinking about the v8 swap.
I've owned 4 supras and three f-bodies. The last f-body was a 98 Z-28.
That car ran flat 13's at 110 mph with a cold air intake, catback and flashed ECU. And still knocked down 23 mpg.
I would love to see what a 600+ HP...
I doubt you will find an LS1, LS6 or LS2 for anything less than $1000. And that would be a FUBARed ls1. If you want a cheap GenIII small block look into a truck 5.3. these are the most common of the later V8's and I have seen them for as little as $700. some of the 05 and later 5.3's are...
