Yes anything that is a legal aftermarket part will have a CARB EO # usually welded to the part. Or sometimes a sticker near the part, but they always have an easy way to identify and confirm its use.

The only way to legally get a FFIM in a mkiii, is to swap a USDM 2JZGTE.
There are no CARB approved intake manifolds for the 7M. You would have to find a tech, that would smog it with his eyes closed and wallet open.
Failed bearing creating heat and corrosion?
Cheap pilot bearing?
Damaged (mushroomed) input shaft?
Could be many reasons that could happen.
Was the bearing new when you did the swap?
Get a stock t-stat, and cut the jiggle valve off. Then install it with the hole at the top.
If you use a stock t-stat its not possible to install it backwards.
This may seem like a lame question, but how do you know its running hot? How are you reading temps, where is the sensor?
Does the system build pressure?

The friction plate was made by "F1 racing". They're definitely not known for their quality clutch parts.

This kind of connector, connects to the top of the sender. And the wire would lead through the engine harness, to a connector in the ECU area. Eventually going to the dash.

If your going to keep the OBDII computer, youll have to keep the electronic throttle body.
Do you know the issues with keeping the OBDII? Like having active evap system leak checks, catalyst monitors, theft deterrent, traction control etc. It takes allot to keep 96+ computers...
