i pulled my auto trans off my 7m by itself, talk about hours of trying to torque bellhousing bolts.. for the 7M i'll say its easier to pull together :) for my car the bolt pattern is way better and i'm just going to pull the trans off by itself.
i would mount it in front, if behind i would use a fan or heck even mount it under the foglight with a fan.

its all internal. have that tested, and if your battery is new i would doublecheck the wire from the alt to the battery make sure it looks good. when my car had charging troubles it was because of that line
if the alt failed the test its a good indication, i took my alternator out of the car to have it tested worked fine... my problem was the alternator connection. doublecheck your grounds anf if the new alt doesnt help start looking elsewhere
very true! i will argue not all tools have to be expensive. some i find myself cheaping out on because they are just not used for areas i know will require a lot of torque... such as gear wrenches. the 6 point socket is a must!
