I got rodknock, now I'm really contemplating getting a jdm 7m from one of the many engine importers. Just wondering if anyone's had good luck going that route.

I had one on my 88 1jz, and I couldn't have been happier with it. The sound was amazing at WOT and at idle it purred like a kitten. It's not loud unless you "Get on it" And cruising you can't even hear or feel it in the cab. An awesome exhaust.
You should have no problem using a BCC, it's a great tool. Just make sure to use a wideband gauge to make sure you're not tuning it lean. With 440's though, you shouldn't have a problem.

Cool. Someone else has the same problem as me. My car was doing the same thing, and I opened up the ecu and have a leaky cap aswell. Send your ecu to DM.
I talked to him on the phone about it, he thinks the capacitor leaked. Hopefully this is the problem with the car, seems like it's worth a shot to send it to him for repair before doing hours of diagnostic work, or having it towed to a shop that knows nothing about 1j or 2j. I try to turn my own...

I get codes
21 = O2 sensor
31 = MAF?????
47 = ????
Now, I went to cygnusx1, and the code 47 does not exist for the 7m.
31 is a MAF. And since it's a 1j, there is no MAF.
