Evilempire is right. The harness will reach. It just wont look stock. But who cares, I'd rather do it this way then try and extend it myself and probably have some problems later on down the road.
Personally, I was a chicken and had someone professionally extend it for me (for some ca$h)
I checked out their website, and it looks like they can do a number of things, including a new fuel map, raise rev limit, eliminate boost cut, spd cut and ignition timing.
I wouldn't have ordered one if I believed that. I have seen some pretty impressive dyno sheets from 1j's. And torque is all about your set-up. I have seen people with more tq than hp in their 1j's.
An update on this : I seem to have found a website that will order one straight from mines in japan. ManicTechRacing I believe will het me one for a modest $1900 USD. I say no to this tho. I could probably find a better way to spend that amount on my car.
I stated that because during my research that's what I was led to believe. I havn't swapped my engine yet, infact it wont be here till next monday, but the turbines are ceramic, and from what I've heard I wouldn't try to push them any harder. I mean you might get really unlucky and have a piece...
I just want to reply to this comment because I recently ordered a jza70 clip from the guys at driftmotion, and I would like to thank them for being very cool people. Any question I had about the swap they were able to answer, and they were very nice and honest. So far I have had a very good...
Just remember if you decide to swap a 1jz, it will take a stand alone to map fuel above your stock fuel-cut level. Either that or you can just buy an upgraded ecu like a mines or a blitz access if you can find one. Another thing if you wanna go past 14psi, you will need a new turbo set-up.
I...
gt35R would be your best bet for that hp goal. The only problem with this turbo is lag. But since you have a 1jz, and can rev to 8000 you dont need to worry about it too much. You'll get full boost around 4000 with a large elbow/dp.
The gt30 and gt35's are made by Garrett. They are ball-bearing...
I had an exhaust manifold leak and it made the same type of noise. I puled the manifold off, and the metal gasket had some sort of wierd bulge in it, probably from all the heat. But there were charring marks from the leak (it was a big leak tho) So I replaced the gasket and it sounded fine after...
Might wan't to consider replacing one (or more) of your knock sensors. I had the same problem, hesitation misfire under boost. I had a code 52, and replaced my front knock sensor, and everything went back to normal. While I was at it, I grabbed some NGK wires 'n plugs, car has never run better...
I'm not an expert, but I thought the 7m head could only take a maximum of 14 psi before starting to warp. Correct me if I'm wrong. Maybe it's all in the tune...?
I opted for the a'pex integration power intake kit. I baught it off e-bay for $98+ shipping. so far it's working pretty good. I get +1 lb of boost from it too
Sorry for hijacking teh thread, but I thought this was the best place to ask this. Wouldn't shimming the wastegate for more boost reduce the over-all life of the turbo?
