What did you do to your supra today? Pics

Technically it was last Saturday, but moved my car from the side of my old place to my mom's garage...should be able to start wrenching and finishing it up here in the next couple weeks.

    Any Linux people around?

Slackware is more of a 'purist' or 'tinkerer' flavor of Linux -- it's very minimalistic in intuition and doing stuff for the user, allowing the user to COMPLETELY config everything how they want. Now granted, back in '96 pretty much all flavors were in the same vein, but most Linux distros...

    College Senior Project

That's the remote control unit for the 'manual override' portion. Other than that, it's using an Arduino microcontroller and ultrasound sensors to navigate itself.

    College Senior Project

Now that my portion of my college senior project is *knocks on wood* done, I thought I'd finally share some photos. The entire project is a car whose primary function is to drive and navigate autonomously using sensors, with a manual override option. My section was the base chassis, and I fabbed...

Electric fan control idea. Looking for comments.

The reason they reference the temps at the radiator hose is because you don't want to cool the system off enough to close the thermostat. By using the actual engine coolant temp and not the post-radiator temp, they can keep that from happening a lot easier. This is how pretty much every...

Electric fan control idea. Looking for comments.

Aside from the 'coolness factor' of building your own controller, there are already many fully-engineered controllers on the market. If it were as simple as wiring up a Schmitt-trigger and maybe an op-amp, then everyone would be doing it. I'm sure what everyone else has mentioned about...

    Thinnest allowable valve shim?

No, head hasn't been on a running motor since the repair/rebuild. I was planning on getting the lash set to about middle of the road, then checking it again sometime within the break-in period, probably after about 500mi. I did get the shims today at a local bike performance place, and the guy...

    Thinnest allowable valve shim?

Hey guys, finally getting some more work done on the car, and the current task is valve lash. Did my initial clearance checks yesterday, calculated the new shims from the spreadsheet and got the proper sizes installed today. On my post-swap clearance check today, most numbers are right in the...

Cooking help for the noob on the go

I'm in a similar boat -- not much skill in the kitchen, partly due to time, mostly due to me not wanting to devote time...lol. Anyway, for quick 'n dirty, I like to get some canned chicken and mix it up with either those Green Giant frozen vegetable steamer bags, or the rice packets from Uncle...

Silly question here, but are any of you guys taping the section you're cutting, and cutting through the tape instead...?

better that stock downpipe exhaust gaskets?

Remflex can make custom gaskets, you just have to send them a template. You'll pay more up-front to cover their tooling costs, but it's worth it IMO, and they're really fantastic people to deal with. I had custom header gaskets made by them for my truck, and it was a pretty smooth process and...

better that stock downpipe exhaust gaskets?

They have 3-bolt flange gaskets as well for whatever pipe size you need. Should be under 'general exhaust' gaskets, since they're universal.

Walbro Pump Differences -- SRT-4 Neon vs. MKIII Supra

Well, got a definitive answer straight from Walbro: Hello Justin, Thank you for the inquiry. The GCA761-2 will not work for the Dakota or your Supra. What you would need for the Supra is the GSS341 (255 lph HP pump + 400-760 installation kit). The GCA761-2 is not the correct pump...
