Dont think the turbo would have anything to do with your stalling, but maybe. It sounds like its time for a turbo rebuild. Your stalling may be related to your BOV.

Actually you are looking for voltage. When the knock sensor is working properly it will output milivolts. If you want, you can bench test it as follows: Hook up your voltmeter to the knock sensor and set you voltmeter to milivolts, don't remember if its A/C or D/C though. You can tell...

Make him do it with the front cover on. The front of the head sits on it and if it is not flush with the deck, the head will not seal correctly and you will be pulling the head back off in about 500 miles.

Actually it sounds comparable to what I paid for my machine work. Def get the thing balanced. And make sure the deck the block with the front cover ON so it is level with the top of the block. If you don't, you'll be sorry, you'll all be very very sorry.
