I feel you on this. I seem to type out this same point over and over myself.
Ebay does not make anything...there is no such thing as ebay intercoolers or ebay headgaskets or ebay "enter you choice of product here" anything.
Nothing wrong with wiseco pistons or eagle rods. They would be fine for any amount of power you could make... But why would you buy 7m parts from anyone other than a SM vendor? Shops like the one you posted a link for do nothing for the mk3 world. Buying from people like that is why the...
Good thing I don't go by those tolerances then because engines would be blowing up left and right. I go +/- a half, one decimal past the decimal I am trying to be accurate to.
When I want something to measure .0041, I want to be accurate to .00405 to .00414.
Using the std you guys are...
So your saying that a measurement of .005 would be subject to a +/- of .005.
That would give your measurment a "possible" range of zero to .010?
Did you intend to say a 3 decimal is accurate to +/- a half at the 4th decimal? and a 4 decimal is accurate to a half at the 5th decimal?
Sorry to hear that Mr. Y.
I call the probe piston an "un-finished" piston. The tops need to be profiled and de-burred. I an emery cloth wheel in a die grinder to remove the sharp edge, then I bead blast the top of the pistons.
Here is a pic of so probes I installed in a motor. You can see...
WHOA WHOA WHOA you guys. Piston clearance is measured in "total clearance" not clearance per side. Your finshed size on the bore needs to be the size of the piston PLUS the clearance. And we measure clearance to 4 decimal places not 3. If you want .004 clearance you ask for .0040 not .004. Big...
I would ask that company for the part number of the gasket that is shown in the two links you provided. The picture is of a 2jz gasket, not a 7m gasket. You want to be sure you get the correct gasket.
Greddy makes a 1.6mm gasket and I have 1.6mm gaskets also.
It would always be better if the head was off the block...But if you must do it while the head is on the block,,,,then it would be better to do it while a vac is pulling on the bore to catch flashing,,,then to do it without the vac.
Just kidding you fubar. Did you guys bleed the air from the entire cooling system and heater system after assembly? You could be getting air that is already trapped in your heating system.
Exhale breath indoors when warm. No smoke... Walk outside when it is cold and exhale breath...now there is smoke.. My mouth must have a blown headgasket.
Do not do any hard pulls with a cold motor. I would make sure the motor was fully warm prior to any kind of run. With a cool or cold motor, even a smaller or medium pull on the motor will grow those pistons much faster than the iron block will grow, thus closing your tight clearance even more...
John - Lets just say that hks WANTS you to have a lower ra spec and it has never really been proven that the lower ra spec is absolutly needed. Conversly, it has never been proven that the cometic is more forgiving to ra spec,,,only that they do not ask for as low an ra spec as HKS. Both gaskets...
Yep, Sean AIM'ed me his dyno graph after he ran the car. This was only with 30 psi. He is getting a larger housing and will re-tune.
Pretty sure Darin built and tuned the car.
I would be careful with that, Autozone does not rent any kind of hone that will place a proper finish on a cylinder wall. If it is a spring loaded cheap thing you hook to a small drill it is worthless.
