I can't believe that I forgot to update this thread. Here's what the wiring harness looked like when I finished it.
ECU side unwrapped.
Middle of the harness bundled together. Note the few splices I did make are staggered, and kept sealed with heat shrink tubing.
Engine side of the...
I've downloaded those videos, and have shown them to quite a few people. The information in that link is priceless if you're ever in a situation where you may have to talk to the police.
Back on topic, Toogoode, have you heard anything lately or does it seem like you're off the hook?
Another possible option to look into, might be having those replicated in vinyl. Got anybody in your area that can custom make vinyl graphics for cars?
The flex head ratcheting wrenches are the one's I'm looking at. They're not cheap by any means, but I could have used them more than a few times while I was doing this engine swap.
Also, the socket cap set is a great idea.
I'm not too worried about installing the EGR valve itself, as that should be much easier to do in comparison to installing that cooler. The EGR cooler is the only thing I'm sweating.
Instead of going after the EGR cooler with sockets, I'm thinking it'd be much easier to reach the bolts with a...
I purchased a GTE engine from a fellow forum member a while back, and he removed the EGR from the engine and installed block-off plates.
While I was performing the engine swap, I didn't bother putting the EGR system back in place; as I didn't think I had all the necessary parts to reinstall it...
Get to the wires from the back side of the connector. If your meter has probes that come to a point, then you can follow the wire through the back of the connector to make contact with the pin while the ECU is still connected.
To test the harness itself for continuity, I found it easiest to...
I just did a GE to GTE swap in my '86.5, and all I did was change out the tach. Once you pull the cluster apart, the GTE tach just bolts/screws right in place of the GE tach.
It really is plug and play.
Now matter how many grounding straps are on a spark plug, it still only makes one spark. I'll take a good (one strap) spark plug that can consistently make a good, predictable spark over, and over, and over; versus a spark plug that relies on gimmicks.
The right most yellow plug, should plug into the engine harness. (You can see the plug it goes to at the right of this engine harness.

If I'm not mistaken, that plug sends some engine functions over to the dash like: CEL...
If you want a RHD car, then purchase something like a Skyline. Spending the time and money to convert a LHD to a RHD just for shits and giggles, has to be one of the dumbest ideas I've seen in a while.
That said, if you plan on forging ahead as planned; here's some things I found that may be...
Speaking of the aux fan, my car has the single electric fan at the radiator. Will that fan still work, and if not; is there anything I can add or re-wire on this harness (while I'm rebuilding it) to make it work?
I'm seeing that the '86.5 isn't the best year to put a turbo into, but it's really not that bad. Just a few hiccups along the way. The GTE/Auto bracket that I'm using on the throttle body had no problem accepting the cable from the stock cruise unit. I must have gotten lucky, but I didn't see...
No need for a custom cable, as it bolted right up to the GTE throttle body I'm using. I just need to figure out a way to keep vacuum to it, and I'm thinking hard wiring the pump to the ignition with a relay just may work.
Interesting. I have the N/A cruise control unit on the car, and I do have it hooked up to the throttle body. I also have the vacuum pump required to operate the cruise control unit. The only thing I didn't see, is a place to plug the pump into; which would explain why, as I didn't switch out...
Update: Here's the repaired CPS wiring in the harness:
The wiring that I pulled out of the other harness was missing a few inches of ground wire, so that was soldered in, and wrapped with heat shrink tubing.
On that note, I carefully studied the ground wires on this new harness; and there's...
Good to know. I'm not swapping out the main harness, so I guess that plug will just hang there. (Or I can just delete it from the harness, as I already have those two wires separated from the harness).
Out of curiosity, why wouldn't the cruise work without swapping the main harness...
I remember who it was, and he is an active member on here. I'm willing to let this trade slide, as this harness didn't really cost me anything more but shipping; however, I'm very disappointed that this harness has set my swap back a good month or so from running. (Not to mention, that this...
