It's kind of off topic, but I always wondered about that thing on one of the cam gears of the RB2?DETT.... is that a CPS....? Or some variable valve timing thingy? Can someone enlighten me, please?
BTW turbomk3:
Consider yourself lucky. Where I live, they would've decommissioned the car immediately and you would've had to pay a bazillion $ fine because of the NO2 (ha, I didn't say "NOS") :nono:
It's mandatory for HIDs to be self-levelling in Germany, simply to avoid blinding the oncoming traffic when you put say... a 7M block into your trunk which would lift the car's front end up.
It must be self-levelling because HIDs are much brighter than halogens, so a manual levelling feature is...
I'm also datalogging the signal of the stock pressure sensor, it's actually working quite nice. However, I can't tell you the color right now because I'm at work....
BTW the only reason why the stock boost gauge is worthless is the signal conversion/smoothing circuit between the sensor and...
Only one car.... hm, that's difficult.
I guess if I had the money and wanted to buy a car, the first thing I would do would be to test drive my favourites of expensive cars and make my decision afterwards.
If I could only buy one car, I'd probably keep my MKIII and make a real fun car out of...
I think that's what GrimJack explained above ;)
The ball-and-spring type doesn't let any pressure through until the bleed pressure is reached.
By simply putting two MBCs in parallel and fully opening or fully closing one of them, you could switch between stock boost and the adjusted boost...
Nice writeup, good work!
Just one question, how long have you been running the turbo since the rebuild? I'm just curious about the "make it live" part ;)
Agreed.
A buddy of mine has one of those things, and I once had the opportunity to play around with it. It's very important to enter the correct weight; with a full gas tank plus you as the driver, your car is actually quite a bit heavier than the vehicle weight Toyota stated in the manual...
Yea, that's really nice....
I was in a similar situation 2 weeks after I got my Supra, it was still bone stock. I was standing at a gas station, when some guy came running next to me all excited and asked me if I wanted to sell the car.
:umno:
He kept bugging me and wanted to persuade me to...
Thanks Grim, I was already doubting my mind :-p
Mk3 TurboS,
it's actually working the other way round, you have to think backwards. The order of the MBCs doesn't matter at all.
The maximum boost of the turbocharger is regulated using the wastegate door which is moved using the pressure...
Thanks a lot for the explanation :)
But somehow I still don't quite get it why they would work in series.
Let's say we have two ball-and-spring MBCs in series. One is halfway closed (supposed to limit the maximum boost) and the other one is fully open, so it exerts almost no tension to its...
