For the money you're spending for the (Group III) Mobile 1, you'd be better off getting Pennzoil Platinum if you're gonna run a Group III based synthetic.
Check out this post by Jdub about GC 0W30 oil, and why he uses it. (If you didn't know, Jdub is our oil expert here; and I believe he also lives in Arizona).
Don't let the weight on the front of the bottle fool you, as that can often be misleading. If you look at the cSt numbers, the true...
Is there any oil in the spark plug galley? <--Check this first!
If so, take the spark plug galley cover off and get that oil cleaned out of there. Once cleaned out, you can fix the leak that's causing the oil to pool up. Leaking valve cover gaskets are the primary cause of oil to pool in the...
I found the thread with the dyno sheets.
With the N/A cams, torque comes on strong, but starts dying off after 3,000 RPM; and HP is down overall. It might be good for autocross, but it'd suck if you ever took it to a drag strip.
I can't find the thread with the dyno sheets either, but if I recall correctly, the engine started falling flat on it's face around 5,000 RPM....give or take a few hundred. Basically, if you've seen a dyno sheet for the N/A and notice when the power started falling off WAY before redline; the...
I'm just going by what I seen in this post. If you have any pics or facts to prove otherwise, I'd love to see them, as I was really considering purchasing a Mishimoto until I read this post. If it cools better then stock, I thinks it's a great radiator for the price.
I was thinking about buying one as well, but the Mishimoto only has about 7.5 fins per inch versus the 20 (or so) fins per inch that the other brands have.
For those who are using a Mishimoto, how well does it cool? Do you notice an increase in temps given the fact that is has less then half...
Imagine how much you'd learn if you took a few days, and just sat down and read through some of the sections on here. Both of your questions in your two most recent threads would have already been answered if you took some time to read through Jdub's oil section.
This is all that needs to be said about Lucas.
You could go back to dino oil, but why would you want to? With all of the added benefits that synthetic oil provides, I couldn't see draining synthetic oil and replacing it with dino oil. Especially on a turbo motor! If your only concern is...
That must hurt like a son of a bitch! :icon_razz
That does sound like the clutch disk or something came apart. Once you have the tranny pulled, don't forget to post pics of the carnage. We LOVE carnage pics! :)
A code 51 will set if you touched the gas, had the A/C switched to "on" while in diagnostic mode, or the TPS is bad or needs adjustment (most likely).
Jetjock has a great writeup on how to diagnose a code 51.
Do not drive it until you fix your cooling problem!!!
My oil recommendation would be German Castrol 0-30. You can find it at Autozone and Pepboys. I'd highly recommend you read through Jdub's oil section. Spend a few days reading through that section, and I'd guarantee that 99.9% of your...
^^^ Why would you cut the harness to add a new connector? Just use a de-pinning tool to remove the wires from the old connector, and clip them in place in the new connector. (Assuming the original wires are in good shape).
I'll never understand the mentality it takes to hack up a harness to...
