I'm doing the same exact thing right now. I think it depends on what kind of head gasket you're using. You need a certain RA (smoothness) for certain kinds of head gasket applications.
So 50 or smoother if the cost doesn't differ much or there's nothing additional added... got it. Yeah, some people say re-check/re-torque after 10+ heat cycles and 500 miles?
I haven't drained it yet, but with how many chocolate shakes were accumulated in my plug valleys, I don't even wanna...
Awesome, I was waitin for you or another expert, jdub. I'll be using an OEM gasket with ARP studs. No point in going metal, as I'll be going 1JZ over the summer. Copper spray sealant? I'll get on that then. RA for an OEM gasket? Sorry if I didn't search hard enough for that one. Like I said...

So I've gotten yays and nays for mirror finish... any mods wanna chime in?
I'm gonna be at a daily driven 10-12 lbs. on a stock CT, and from everything I've read on here, I should be good. I'm replacing all gaskets on the head and all hoses as well, so as long as I do the proper break-in and use my head (my brain, not mechanical), the OEM gasket should suit my needs...
