ok, well i found out that im a dumbass and the plug for the CC was there, just hidden from when i painted the bay. :nono:
i can get the plugs to go in, but theres only 1 that wont fit, theres 3 wires on the engine harness plug and 5 on the chassis harness plug. 3 of the wire colors match up...
hmmm, i MIGHT do that but the 87 chassis harness is pretty hacked up by the dumbass that owned it before me.
i just checked and the car was made in 1/89, not sure if that early or not...the 87 harness plugs into a couple of the chassis harness plugs. so i think the rest of the day will be...
the plugs shown in the pics are located near the cruise control. thats where the triangle shaped one plugs into.

Hey guys, im still having a couple problems w/ my wiring but figured i would start a diff thread since i know i cant use my JDM harness anymore. i cant just get a 89+ harness because theres a few connectors that are not the same on the motor (like the ones on the thermostat housing).

nice work on doing all the stuff yourself. however on the rear addons, i fear the body filler will not be enough, usually more than 1/8" of body filler and it will crack. did you use any fiberglass or just bondo?

i was just going to extend it right where it went through the firewall but now im not sure if i'll be able to use the JDM harness since they dont have emissions and all that other great stuff we have here... also it doesnt have the plugs for my t-stat housing.
if someone can let me know for sure if i can use a pre89 harness and ecu in the car i already have one. i found the one i nees but if i dont need to spend the money i wont. ill compare some of the plugs tomorrow. i know the injector clips on the pre89 are all the same color and on the 89+...
i have to swap stuff over? to the best of my knowledge this is basically a drop in affair. will i be able to use the ECU pictured as long as i get a usdm 89+ 5spd harness? what sensors do i need to swap?
could i just solder an extra foot of wire to the JDM harness and use that?
i know a machine shop in middleboro that does good work for a decent price. but if you're gonna spend that much money why not just go 2jz? you can do 10's on that motor without even touching the internals.
i have an OEM HG if you want to do a quick fix, but with you driving around w/ the BHG i fear it might not be a simple job.
i would suggest either going 1/2jz or getting a 7m and rebuilding everything.
ok, so i have a JDM engine harness for a 90 7mgte, will this work on my non JDM 87 7mgte? i dont see the plugs for ignitors and such... also if anyone has pics of the stock engine w/ harness on it i'd appreciate it.
deff looks like a knock sensor.

now see the oil pressure sending unit to the left of where the filter goes.
i took these before disassembling the motor completley so thats where they were
