That's a good idea for cutting out the donor roof.
I thought it would be a good idea to cut out a significantly larger portion of the roof than I plan to use so that I can lay it on the roof of my car and get the placement right, and then trace the opening (from the inside of the car). This...
Absoloutely...this is my biggest worry, i.e. i'm afraid of it warping.
Someone suggested gas welding it which works well on curved body panels cause they're stronger due to thier curviture, but I'm afraid gas would generate too much heat and cause a flat panel like the roof to warp.
I'm...
So no-one has done this on a MkIII?
Anybody got any ideas on what method of welding is gonna work the best on this? Mig I'm thinking?
I don't have another supra to look at closely but I would think (even though the moon-roof is flat glass) there must be some curve to that section of the...
Get a new tank assembly and save yourself from screwing around with it.
I think they're around $70.00. I'm sure there are plenty of guys with parts cars who would sell you a working one.
Just like the title says...that's what I want to do .
I've got an '87 hardtop that had a glass moonroof installed at the dealer when new. It works fine since I fixed it a couple of years ago, but s/r's make wind noise on the freeway (doesn't leak air but you can hear the wind rushing over...
Something came loose. Probably a trailing arm.
What did it drive like after the damage?
You should be able to feel and hear a snaped trailing arm.
Usually you get that kind of damage to the wheel well drag racing if a tire lets go, and that's obviously not the case.
Bottom line...you can get someone to mix you up some dye that will come close but it's like paint, you'll never get an exact color match. If the rest of the interior is in good shape (and not faded) I'd just dye the drivers seat as you suggested. However, if it's all starting to look a bit faded...
I'd spend my time and money on a good solid rebuild with no shortcuts and no crazy boost or huge turbos or giant injectors or Nos. Just a nice solid rebuild to get you familiar with the 7m and maybe later down the road look into bpu's, and take it from there.
This way you'll have a car that...
I'm a little aprehensive about 0- or 5- weight oils. Call it a gut feeling or just old school mentality, but it makes me nervous to see that low of a number on an oil bottle.
So now you gotta replace the fender. You're not gonna try to fix it are you?
I am currently fixing this:
The worst part is matching and then blending in the paint so it doesn't stick out like a sore thumb when you're done. You've seen cars with the door or fender that looks a...
I bought my parts from my local Toyota dealer and was told that the new parts were r134 compliant. Maybe he was bullshitting, but it's been over a year and my a/c is going strong and pressure has remainded stable.
I would think someone like Jeff Lang could give us the straight dope on this...
I had the same "droning" sound. It was driving me nuts. The cat won't help.
The resonator might help but what you really need is a new (quieter) muffler.
I am running a 3" generic resonator and a stainless Borla Turbo XL muffler. I just picked it out of their catalog 'cause it looked to...
Illumination ring sounds right, but what exactly does it plug into. I have not been able to find this thing in the TSRM or the EPC.
I'm thinking it plugs into the lock barrel somehow? It's way in the interior of the door and hard to spot.
Correct.
Best to replace your seals etc. before you convert. Also, as I recall I replaced my evaporator and compressor, cause if these components are weak they will leak, sooner than later.
