Why is it people scream bloody murder about street racing but they wouldn't think twice about talking on their cell phone while driving or after a few drinks. Both kill more people per year than street racing. All three are illegal. Yes talking on your cell while driving falls under "driving...
This motor is not my racing motor. It's just my daily driver for now. I'm saving money for my other motor. I have another 7MGE sitting in the shop that I plan on doing something with.
GOOD NEWS!!!!
It wasn't my rear seal. I had an injector o-ring blow out on me. I was trying to figure out where the old oil was coming from because I put in new oil less than 100 miles ago when I rebuilt my motor. So that explains the dirty oil and gas on my driveway and the gas smell. But...
If I really wanted power I could drop the 500+ RWHP Ford 302 we have sitting in the shop and probably come out cheaper than dropping in a JZ motor and tuning it to 500+ RWHP. The fabbing of mounts and figuring out how to wire the motor up is what will take the longest.
Side thought: the same...
Which is more dangerous street racing or talking on your cell phone while driving? Street racing is illegal because people get hurt so why isn't talking on your cell phone illegal. More people get hurt by inattentive drivers than racers.
Street racing did not become a big deal until F&F came...
Street racing has been around since the wheel and there is nothing you can do to stop it. You can make it illegal with stiff fines and penalties but that still is not going to stop it. Wake up people! People are going to race no matter what the cost.
If you want to talk about injuries then...
The clutch is brand new, flywheel is good, and the rear seal was brand new. I just blew it racing (in more ways than one). And to make matters worse now I got a fuel leak that I can't find. It's probably an loose hose or an O-ring on the fuel return line.
That all depends on who's doing the work. A reman/rebuilt motor plus the labor to drop it in will cost more than a rebuild. A new 7M? Not likely but a reman/rebuilt 7M will probably break his bank. You could go with a used 7M even then you're still going to need to tear down the motor to check...
The other night I had a run in with a pre 95 turboed eclipse. Either he didn't have the skills or the power to keep up but that doesn't matter. Today while filling up I noticed a puddle under my car. I instantly thought "Not from my car." So when I get home to do some maintains and noticed the...
At least your bearing was still there. Piston number 5 bearing was nowhere to be found on my motor. Well I did find shards of it but that was about it.
Good luck on the rebuild.
Today I finally got the exhaust put on my car. I was running around with just the exhaust manifold. Yea I know zero back pressure is not good. First gear always felt slow to me and second wasn't any better. But now that I got the exhaust system finally put on. OMG what a performance...
Why I plan on staying N/A?
Ease of maintenance on a N/A.
Cost of maintenance.
Less things to go wrong with the motor.
I agree with Cuel. With a properly built and maintained N/A you are going to surprize a few turbos.
Tonight was the first night on the road for my 88 N/A.
My build consist of:
Shaved Head
Decked block
Unknown 7M cams with lobe height of approx 40 MM. (Only identifying mark on them is a number 6. Found them in another 7MGE pulled from a 86.5 Supra.)
6M crank
Cat delete
2.5 in...
#5 bearing decided to take a spin on you too? Both of my motors had the same problem.
Did you get the block checked out and new bearings put into the block? I noticed the build up at the top of the cylinders and what appears to be rust on the walls. Personally I would get the block checked...
