For the really, really bad ones, use one nut and one welder.
Although I have never tried it, I have heard that heating the stud and then melting wax onto the threads works wonders for loosening stuck threads
I have heard it said that for every 2 lbs of boost timing should be backed off
1 deg. Does this apply to the 7MGTE or is the ECM able to adjust for the change?
Currently running 3" pipe, K&N, MBCV, Bosch BOV
I will give you $30.00 for the Bosch valve that you just bought (assuming that you haven't smacked it with a hammer yet) and then you can take that money and apply it to an HKS
Check out Hot Rod Magazine from a couple of months ago. They did an article where they painted an old Falcon with Rustoleum and a paint roller!
Not that I would, but you could
The lady that I bought my 87 Supra from had just painted the car with 1 day paint job. They did a very thorough...
BOV is stock and when I checked it by trying to blow through it is was tight with no appearant leaks. The turbo is the stock unit with 125k miles on it. No smoke and no oil leaks. Head gasket is Cometic with factory bolts torqued to 75lbs.
What RPM did you achieve 9-10 PSI? Now I am...
Titus, Why do you think faulty BOV?
SMP142, the only stock piece on the exhaust is the elbow. Is there a way to verify that the wastegate is operating at the correct pressure?
PS Thanks for your service in the AF it is greatly appreciated
The symptoms occur under hard acceleration (3/4 to wot) and at 7PSI which is where the MBCV is set. Boost pressure is steady and begins to drop off after engine load decreases.
I am thinking weak or faulty injector. Is there a way to check them short of removing them and having them...
Under hard acceleration with 7lbs boost (stock turbo, K&N, 3" pipe, 2kmiles on engine) I am experiencing a slight surge at rpms above 4k.
There are no air leaks in the intake tracts and it is not a missfire. I am thinking fuel delivery maybe a faulty/dirty injector.
Any insight or ideas...
When you disassembled the head did you notice if the head bolts felt like they weren't as tight as when you assembled it originally? I ask this because my son just blew the HG on his (due to a failed heater control valve that dumped all the coolant out) 3 months after I had replaced it. I had...
I agree that any of those could be responsible for the erratic readings. I am in the process of puting together a Home Depot pressure tester just to make sure there are no leaks. All connections and ducting passed the visual inspection. The puzzling thing is that on the first pull the boost...
I have 3" pipe from turbo to tail pipe and KN filter KN filter.
Engine has approx 2000 miles since complete rebuild including Metal Head gasket
Sounds like I need a real gauge.
Any suggestions on brands and mounting locations?
The boost pressure spikes past the gauge limit often hitting fuel cut. Also after 2 or 3 pulls then it maxs at the stock 4 -5. If I try to back off the BCV even an 1/8 of a turn then it maxs out at the factory 4 - 5psi. I think I might have a faulty BCV?
I installed the MBCV last night (correctly this time, one hose to the housing one hose to the actuator) but can not get a steady boost above 5 psi. When I try to adjust the controller (1/4 turn at a time) it will either spike past 8 PSI and settle back to 5 PSI or max steady at 5 PSI (about...
I was given a boost control valve (from a Supramania subscriber) and searching the internet I found this article thinking it was applicable to a CT26. It isnt. Hope this saves others from an incorrect installation...
