The only issue im having with my 1jz swap is a hesitation im having at 3200 rpms. The funny thing about this is when I down shift (say 3rd to second) and the rpms jump above this point its fine. I haven't gotten it tuned yet, and its reading really rich. What has my stumped is why up until 3200...
I'm looking into replacing my pistons since I have a good feeling that my rings are shot. I know about the hastings 3sgte rings and the cp pistons, im wondering what else is out there so that I can weight my options.
Are you saying you have the soarer 1jz harness? Have you confermed that it is a soarer motor? Im saying that because the chaser has two body plugs missing for the ecu, or have the been cut? Im personally more familier with the chaser swap but im sure it applies to the soarer as well.
I did the decel test and it does smoke, and it looked more so in the bluish/grey area today. The funny thing about this is that when I took out the plugs there was no oil on the plugs, they must not be too far gone yet. The head will come off ASAP.
So I re-tested compression and got 150 across the board! My next test to confirm the valve stems will be the down hill test where you just downshift and throttle to see if the white smoke occurs only under decel, if so valve stems are the culprit. If not im not sure where to go. WISH ME LUCK!
As warm as it could be after taking all required items off
Yeah there is some. Is there a way to test the valve stems with the motor assembled?
Ill re-test tommorow, any pointers on testing for compression?
I swaped my 1j into my Mk3. I upgraded my twins to an MPT70 and am experiencing white smoke that smells like only on decel only? I'm familiar with the general rules of the colors of smoke being: white=coolant, blue/gray=oil, black=fuel. My mechanic thinks the piston oil rings but I did a...
+1 rent a compression tester for like $40 from orielly just to be sure. you could also get a vaccum gauge from harbour freight for like 20. If they check out fine then drive a few hundred miles to see if you are burning oil, if not then I think caps may be the issue.
It seems to be from a chaser so you'll need the mid-sump oil pan, supra motor mount brackets depending upon the year of your car (if it is a supra). I don't see the map sensor so you may need one (i might just be overlooking it). Also you'll need a fan, clutch or hydro. With my chaser swap I...
Ok, I understand angle. I understood your statement as NEVER being able to use skills aquired in this MOS. He's done his 6yrs, I would never assume to be able to handle any job for the matter after twelve weeks of trainning. In that time frame just your just becoming really familiar with the...
Why infantry?
As far as not being able to work on my MOS enough to get any value from it, I call BS. I close friend of mine went with the National Guard (I can't recall what MOS) and is now making 90K through gov. contracting, I believe in I.T.. I recall him having some Microsoft andCisco...
I appreciate the in depth feedback! I will be looking into these certs. over the next few days. Aside from Cisco certifications, im assuming Microsoft would be another safe bet? Am I correct?
Im going to MEPS on Monday and looking for any advise with negotiations of my contract.
Also my top three choices for MOS are 25B, 94M, 25S anyone else on the boards involvoed with any of these. Anyone suggest anyothers to look at?
My goals are to pay for school, have a marketable skill...
