For your leather, you can use leatherique. Possibly the best cleaner/conditioner out there. For the dye, Fiebings. Available on Amazon. I have used both products on various leather over the years with very good results.

Step #1 without all the guessing: Warm engine compression and leak down test. Why do you guys guess instead of test?

Without the timing belt on (cams disconnected), The pistons don't care if their on TDC compression or TDC exhaust.

Just to let people know if they don't, there is a differance between chasing a thread and tapping or retapping threads. There are "taps" available to chase threads. These are not to be used to make new threads.
