    What ever happend to.....

I need one of the girlie cutouts so I can use the HOV lane driving to work, and look like a stud blowing by all the traffic in the loser lanes!

    shaeff's custom tail lights

I also tried every chemical known to mankind, and the mold wouldn't budge at all. Then I used Tilex (or any bathroom mildew remover) and the mold is 100% gone in less than 30 seconds of sloshing it in there. I almost cried with happiness when something finally worked. :) Just a heads up for...

    another phys question...

But does it go into negatives? What if the police officer inputs 60mph (or it figures it out automatically), and then points the gun at a car going 20 mph. What does the display spit out? Will the display show -40mph, or +80 mph, or what? What about hand held units? Can you clock a car coming...

    Astrology & Numerology

I would rephrase that and state: We all have the same basic fears, hopes, dreams, instincts, aspirations etc. like everyone else. We just like feeling special so we pretend we are all unique and different. But you really can't say something about anyone specific that basically doesn't apply to...

    another phys question...

What if you're going 55mph and the cop 65mph? Will the radar show the same 10 mph? Does the radar show +/- on the display? Just curious. ... As for the word "theory" the scientific definition of "theory" is nothing like what the everyday usage is. It is million miles away from the...

Where does this ground wire go?

On my car it's bolted to the rear-most intake manifold lug. Considering the wire is aged and basically has zero flexibility at this point, I would assume it came that way. It also mentions in the TSRM to remove this wire from the "rear of the engine", whatever that means. My car is an 88.

Where does this ground wire go?

It bolts to the intake manifold, above the starter.

    just throwin this out there

It's all relative. As Grim points out, acceleration references itself, not some outside measurement or reference. Just because you're standing still relative to something that usually doesn't move, doesn't mean you're not accelerating.

    Spoilers

I don't have a picture, but only a whale tail spoiler is really of any use on car with body shape like a MKIII. It reduces both drag, and increases rear downforce. The rest are just hunks of plastic bolted on to look good. And people who will say the 89+ spoiler is better since the overall...

DAMN IT MAN! A cracked rotor!

Splashing cold water will crack the best rotors in the world. Also keeping the brakes on after a particularly hard stop will either warp or crack them. Basically anything that puts quick temperature changes on them will do the trick of cracking them. Where is it cracked? What rotors are...

    tems computer

It just splices into the TEMS wire running through the kick panel terminal box, the actual computer is in the back, as Jeff points out. http://www.cygnusx1.net/supra/library/TSRM/fa/FA_29.html It's a pain in the ass to remove, since you have to take off the interior side pieces to get at...

There is fuel sitting in the rail and injectors when you shut off your engine. That fuel will heat up and start boiling from the heat of the sitting engine. The fuel will turn from a liquid into a a vapor, and when you go start the engine, instead of spraying fuel, the injectors are spraying a...

Can I determine, if my ECU retards ignition timing?

No real easy way to check. Only thing I would suggest, is get some high octane gas, and see if the performance remains. Then switch to lower grade gas and see if it gets sluggish again. If it does, then yes it's probably pulling timing.

    Green truck shifter gasket pics

Go to Toyota and order these part numbers: Green shifter seal #33505-35020 (What's in the pics) White hard bushing #33548-31010 (Goes on the bottom of the shifter pivot) It's only couple of bucks, and it does make the tranny shift like brand new again.

Hybrids to save gas money? I'll stay with my 3.0 I-6 running premium

When was buying a car a "good financial investment" in the first place? If it was all about just money, we'd all ride tiny cars getting 50+ mpg. Looking around on the road, most people buy cars they like for whatever reason unique to them, cost be damned. I doubt anyone buys an expensive high...

    Fpr Vsv

No, it will just stay open to the atmosphere in that scenario, as you already figured out. However I would think the ECU is smart enough to turn it off (for manifold feed) once you aren't idling (AFM flow and/or IDL switch sensor). I guess easy enough to check, but a rather boring experiment. :)

    Magnetic Oil Plugs

Well, not much in the engine that wears that would be magnetic in the first place. The bearings are aluminum with babbitt and maybe some copper or such. Nothing else really in there that would leave behind ferrous metals. Even the gears for the distributor or oil pump aren't steel. It makes...

    Whats a pillowball mount?

It's really only useful on McPherson struts. Total waste of money on our cars, which have "proper" a-arm setups. On our cars, it basically does nothing but stiffen up one bushing that doesn't really need it. That is a great way to break your shocks. The shocks need to pivot in the upper...

    cam cover oil vent tube?

mrnickleye read what IJ actually wrote. He didn't say under the cover. Blow by comes from the cylinders/pistons forcing its way up to the PCV system. If a bypass wasn't provided, it would prevent the oil from draining down by gravity feed, through the rather small oil holes in the head/block.
