Oil Advice from the autozone employee

I hate it when someone starts passing judgement on something you have, when you are their to buy product they sell. You didn't ask their opinion on what you 'should' have. Next time someone pulls that on me "you should have..." I think I'll tell them "So you don't want to make a sell now on...

    Managing/Controlling with the 57Trim CT

SAFC is a piggyback. Having a wideband gauge is nice and good for quick reference but when you're tuning WOT you want a log.

    Managing/Controlling with the 57Trim CT

You definitely need a wideband. In my sig is a wiring diagram for the ZT-2. If you decide to go piggyback, I have a worksheet in my sig that can assist you tuning using your wideband logs.

Running more boost and fuel mods

So what you should be saying is - "I don't want to chance my freshly built motor with a stock pump".

Running more boost and fuel mods

I have read that stock fuel pump is only 'reliable' to stock boost level. I think 8-9psi can be run safely. Some have run more. I run 8-9 normally with hi boost set on 12-13. I have also had rings destroyed. I still have stock pump but won't be running higher than 8-9 till I get my mkiv...

Do you have the MAFT already? Consider this from CRE on a current thread very similar to yours:

    Question about the moon landing.

That's what I was thinking. With the new upgrades they did recently (and it was fascinating to watch) couldn't they get a shot of the lander now?

Clarification on Vf signal and tuning.

I didn't include VF because you are basically using it to tune for WOT and when you hit WOT the VF switches to 0. Is also why I don't suggest using it to tune for below 3000~3500. Like if you are cursing around in a lower gear but rpm's are up, you could easily enter this range. The ECU will...

Clarification on Vf signal and tuning.

:D Cool!! Not to get this thread off subject - but - Is it easy for you to use? I don't get much feedback on it.

Clarification on Vf signal and tuning.

I too log VF with my ZT-2 :) Some of you may know that you can use the zt-2, to display user input i.e. VF (if that's the 5v input you choose to monitor). It displays where boost normally shows if you log psi. I have wired a toggle to switch on the fly. If you are displaying user input on the...

Rapidly fluctuating fuel pressure at idle

It's a friends 99 Blazer. At idle the fuel pressure fluctuates rapidly 51-53psi. Slowly applying throttle the rpm will climb smoothly. Rapidly applying throttle it bogs down and back fire. Vacuum is 19inhg.

Branch resonators - ways of reducing exhaust drone

Make sure your exhaust pipe is not touching anything. When I installed my Raptor 3" cat back it was touching the transmission support. At around 2000 rpm my dash would shake and vibrations heard all around. Above that it was fine. I removed the little bit of the support that was touching and...

Unhacking a hackjob: Vacuum lines and PS reservoir

courtesy of Dirgle That is not PCV. That is power steering idle up control valve. It goes from the hard vacuum rail on the intake manifold > across the front of the engine (originally a hard line) > to idle up valve on the ps pump. There is then a line off the other side of that valve that...

Clarification on Vf signal and tuning.

+1 You are not going to be able to tune closed loop with an SAFC that's why it's only suggested tune 3000~3500rpm and above, ~70% throttle, with a piggyback. If you want more control than that you'll need a stand alone or possibly MAFTpro.

    Safc question

I wouldn't worry to much about knock. Many have said it pretty much useless but try to hook it up if you like. I don't know what year you have but there is a wiring diagram in my sig for '91. You need to pay more attention to signal name than wire color if you have a different year.
