I want to see what turbos people have upgraded from and their thoughts on it.
particularly for the 7mgte platform...
Who has went from the stock ct26--> upgraded ct26--> t4 style turbo?
what are your thoughts...do you look back at it as a waste for the upgraded ct and wish you just...
It is generally accepted that if you get lowering springs, you MUST get aftermarket shocks.
If you ride Eibacks on stock shocks it will ride poor, bouncy, squashy etc.
The OEM struts wont be able to handle the oscillations of the new lowering springs.
if your into budget..you can find used aftermarket shocks/lowering spring combo for 200-300 bills. Just within this month I saw a couple setups for sale in here.
Another decent budget option stated allready would be Bilstein shocks with stock springs...you will be able to lower your car with...
We need the SM suspension expert (Wiisass) to settle this "preload" discussion and tell us how all asian coilovers suck...hah jk I know how you feel about them from other threads.
They are called pillowball upper mounts...they are the top part of your spring/strut combo that mount to the vehicle.
They are supposed to give you better steering responce over the OEM rubber ones as the aftermarket ones are solid aluminum.
haha.. I think the car feels better with some preload but hey, im no suspension expert..do what you want. btw, no idea where you heard running preload makes the handling charateristics worse...
and you have had first hand experience with these coilovers? It is necessary to run preload in the front if your ride height is low to prevent rubbing under high speed compressions.
Yea the Megan Tracks ride amazing on flat/even roads but are very unforgiving on back roads/shitty road surfaces.
I upgraded to these from stock as well. Say bye bye to 4x4 height.
As I said earlier, only drawback is if you want to go really low in the rear you will have to run zero preload.
I have a very similar problem that started recently.
After the engine is fully warmed up, the temp gauge will drop just above the cold indicator line while cruising or boosting.
Right when I come to a complete stop such as a stop sign or traffic light the temp gauge goes back to normal...
I opted for the Megan Track Spec Coilovers.
I too was thinking about the stances and tein ss.
Tein ss has no pillow mounts and stance has a too low rear spring rate compared to the fronts.
With a little tweaking you can get the Megans real low in the rear too.
You should check out the Blitz Sus Power intake. Good filtration with stainless steel construction that never needs to be replaced. (Super easy to clean with an air compressor)
Also sounds really cool under throttle.
They go for $180-$200
